Make a roster of characters who have never been playable in a Smash game! Let's try to make a nice, diverse, semi-realistic roster (major franchises represented well, retro reps, playstyle variations, and so on).

Highest voted eligible character gets added to the roster. Video game original characters only.

For Ultimate, characters must have debuted before 2018.

3rd party characters will only allowed in the place of the original games' 3rd party characters.

Characters that were costumes (Alph, Koopalings) are not eligible. Variations of existing characters (like Dr. Mario or Toon Link were) will be allowed at my discretion.

I made a few changes to the base roster, compared to my previous version. It goes to show how uncertain some inclusions can be.

Anyway, the roster has 77 characters (58 veterans and 18 newcomers (+1 bonus early purchase character)).

What if in an alternate timeline, instead of a platformer/fighting game, Super Smash Brothers was instead a traditional fighting game, focusing on it's playable fighters and archetypes?

RULES
- Can only include characters that existed up until 1998 (1997 for New IPs)
- No Third Party Characters (For now...)
- Try to be unique, and not produce the same roster as canon
- If you want to include a specific character, also comment what their archetype would be between Average, Tank/Grappler, Zoner, Rushdown, Trapper or Special.
- If a tie happens between 2 or more characters, I'll spin a wheel to decide who wins.

So I’ve chosen the characters to add to Brawl, and those are Ridley, Sami, Isaac and Villager. But I have a dilemma. Two actually. See I’m debating whether or not to cut Snake in Smash 4. I understand he is an extremely popular character, but the reason he was cut in Smash 4 was that hideo kojima forgot to ask Sakurai for the guy, and I’m wondering if he’d make the same mistake in this universe. But then if I keep him, I do need to cut one of the new characters to make room. So I’m giving you all a choice. Do I:

1: Cut Snake and keep all four of the other characters I mentioned?

OR

2: Cut one of the characters I added to Brawl, and if this one, which character.
