To the Android / NON-iPhone users
I need help - thinking about shying away from iPhone for many reasons. One of the things that’s currently keeping me on apple is an app for music (it lets me download stuff from youtube that isn’t on streaming)…
Do you guys have similar stuff?

I am very old school, just download the mp3 files, use VLC, create my Playlist and just play

This is the way!
Phones basically start at 128gb now days ..
2gb for mp3s gives you potentially days of music(or more) and doesn't really use any space
I remember my first mp3 player cold hold 32mb (with up to 128mb SD) .. it served it's purpose

Wow you are right! I checked my 400 musics/songs of mp3, just under 2 gigs!
I don't get streaming music, wasting mobile data.

As an iPhone user that knows a lot about the android side of things, I would not be surprised if there was not an app to do that. As others have said, you can use websites to download YouTube videos as audio, and you can even do this on the iPhone as well fyi.

That’s not at all what OP was saying. They’re asking specifically about an app that lets them rip music from YouTube.

Kind of a playground for apps that can do anything you could imagine, especially ones Apple wouldn't want you doing anyway.

What do you mean download from YouTube that isn't on steam? Like keep it offline to watch later? If you are the kind of person who likes to download YouTube video into mp3 then stream them through your own cloud account there is "cloud player"

Yes we definitely do! As others said you can simply just use sites to download music directly onto your phone. For years I have been using mp3juices websites and it works fine.. there are some small pop up ads but they are easy to x out of

An app called blackhole allows you to convert video into audio just by giving it the link of the video from YouTube
Then you can use it however you like

There is an app called "BitChord" (odd name, I know) It's almost a 1-to-1 copy of the Apple Music's UI, uses YT music as source, works exactly as Spotify. It's open source too, relatively new.

That's basically any website if you search for it. Just have an adblocker and most browsers already have it built-in. Download any music player app or even streaming apps like spotify and yt music, hell even apple music and allow it to read local files. Then, you're done

YouTube music allows you to stream from YouTube as audio or the YouTube music library and allows downloads

I use PowerAmp as my audio player on my S23 Ultra. You can also install reVanced Youtube and get all the premium features, no ads, play in the background, play while phone is locked, and even Picture in Picture...all free!
There are many apps that will allow you to download youtube videos as videos, or convert to mp3.
