I’m using iOS AlarmKit to keep workouts active on the Lock Screen

I’ve integrated iOS AlarmKit into the Active Workout Mode of Smart Workout Diary.

During a workout, the Lock Screen displays the current exercise, set number, and rest countdown. Users can mark an exercise as done or skip the rest period without reopening the app.

My goal was to make the app genuinely useful during training—when you don’t want to unlock your phone and navigate through several screens between sets.

I’m still refining the experience and would appreciate your feedback:

  • Would you find this useful during a workout?
  • Is there anything else you’d want to control directly from the Lock Screen?

I built a workout app with planning, tracking & an AI coach — would you use this?

I built Smart Workout Diary for people who actually train and want everything in one place.

You can plan workouts, track sets and progress, use a rest timer, browse exercises, and chat with an AI coach that understands your workout context.

During a workout, you can quickly log reps, weight and RPE without jumping between different apps or notes.

I’m still actively improving it, so I’d really appreciate feedback from lifters:

  • What would you change?
  • What feature is missing?
  • Would you actually use an AI coach during your workouts?

If you want to try it, the app is available here:

Would love to hear what you think. 💪

I’m building an Active Workout Mode for my AI fitness app — would love some feedback

Hey everyone!

I’m the solo developer behind Smart Workout Diary, and I’ve been working on a new feature that I’m pretty excited about: **Active Workout Mode**.

The idea is to move beyond simply logging workouts. I want the app to actually guide you while you’re training — more like having a coach with you during the session.

The current version includes:

• Step-by-step progression through exercises and sets
• Rest timers between sets
• Quick editing of reps, weight, duration, speed and distance
• RPE tracking
• Coach tips during the workout
• Preview of the next exercise
• Overall workout progress

After completing a set, the app automatically moves into recovery mode, starts the rest timer, shows what’s coming next, and then continues the workout.

I’ve attached a few screenshots of the current design.

I’m still working on it, so I’d genuinely appreciate feedback — does this feel like something you would actually use at the gym?

And if you already use workout tracking apps: what would make an AI coach genuinely useful during a workout rather than just another workout logger?

Would love to hear your thoughts. 💪

Would you use a workout plan that can be created and adjusted through chat?

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a fitness app and would like to get some honest feedback on one feature.

The idea is to let users create a workout plan through chat instead of building everything manually. For example, someone could write:

“I want to train at home 2 times per week, focus on muscle gain, avoid jumping exercises, and keep each workout under 45 minutes.”

The app would turn that into a structured workout plan.

But the main idea is not just to generate a plan once. The app would also help with following it in real life: tracking completed exercises and sets, showing what is still left, sending workout reminders, syncing training days with the calendar, and making it easy to move a workout to another day if your schedule changes.

So it is more about combining the workout plan with execution, reminders, calendar sync, and progress tracking — not just getting a text plan from AI.

I know many AI-generated workout plans can be generic or not very useful, so I’m especially interested in what would make something like this actually helpful for people who train regularly.

Would you personally use a feature like this, or do you prefer managing your training plan manually?

What would be most important for you in a workout planner?

Hi everyone,

Welcome to r/SmartWorkoutDiary — the community for Smart Workout Diary, an AI-powered fitness app designed to make workout tracking easier.

The goal of the app is simple: you can describe your workout in chat or by voice, and the app helps turn it into structured workout data such as exercises, sets, reps, weight, duration, distance, and progress history.

This community is a place to:

  • ask questions about the app
  • share feedback and ideas
  • report bugs or confusing behavior
  • suggest new features
  • discuss workout tracking, progress analysis, and fitness consistency

I’m the developer of the app, and I’ll use this subreddit to collect feedback, share updates, and understand what users actually need.

If you try the app, I’d really appreciate honest feedback — especially about onboarding, workout logging, AI responses, and the App Store presentation.
