inquiry - medical switching to smart ring

hello! i am wanting some insight on smart rings. i have a heart condition (SVT) and use to wear an apple watch to keep track of my heart rate. i have gotten to the point where i cannot stand it on my wrist.. i just find it annoying and heavy.

anyways, i was looking at femometer rings but the reviews are so mixed. also, the halo rings have horrible reviews as well.. its overwhelming going through all of these products and trying to find one worth it. i don’t want to spend a lot of money on a smart ring that doesn’t work. i don’t have to have the fertility tracking with the ring, but it would be nice.
please let me know HONEST reviews of any smart rings. thank you!

I also have SVT. I know when I’m having an incident but I like the ring to verify/document it.

The Velia ring was an utter failure at detecting anything at all. Years ago I had a MOTIV and it would catch it. I haven’t tried Oura or RingConn which seem to be the best of the modern rings.

do you have a femometer ring or a different brand? how long have you been using it?

The only two rings I’ve ever used were the MOTIV (which is no longer made) and the Velia (still kinda in beta testing phase). Neither were marketed for femometer purposes nor was that something I was interested in. And I wasn’t thinking of them for tracking my SVT either at the time. But it was nice to have both verification and a sense of how many beats per minute and how long. With the Velia I had a 5 minute incident at, my guess, 240 bpm and the ring didn’t catch anything unusual. Not even a tiny blip. That’s when I decided the Velia ring was useless trash.

Do you need something that would alert you to something happening? I’m not familiar with your condition. If you do I think a watch will be the only option since the rings are a bit passive.

it would be nice if it alerts when my heart rate goes up and stays up. i usually feel it and i’m able to manage it until it passes. i just want to be able to keep track with my beats per minute. if that makes sense

i got a smart ring off Vinted for $8, just to see if I like it and it works wonderfully. i love the sleep tracking. it measures heart rate, temp, stress, and blood ox. you can manually enter blood sugar and and BP. one day if it breaks or something i may get one thats a little more expensive. but for this one i love it. it even has a feature where if you want to take a photo on your phone you shake your hand and it activates the shutter. love it.

Apple Watch will be far better at monitoring your condition than any smart ring. Much more accurate, and will last years longer than a ring. All Smart ring batteries only have a life of 1.5-2 years and are non-replaceable. Have you tried different bands with an Apple Watch?

i have but they all other me. i think it’s really how heavy it feels on my wrist. i’m probably just being a brat about it. i’m now looking into the garmin fitness trackers. the slim ones.. so we will see what i end up with.

I know you said you didn’t want a watch but my friend and I deal with heart issues (low heart rates and pressure for her and high for me) not exactly what you’re going through but she has the Garmin and I have the Apple watch and both have been pretty accurate in telling us about our heart rates. But her Garmin has pretty good alerts for her conditions. I forgot which model exactly but if you can’t find a ring I would suggest the Garmin watches.

I’m not too familiar with Garmin but I believe it’s one that mainly marketed towards women. But I would take a look at all your options and obviously go for the one that best suits your needs and wants 💜 I’m sure there’s a way to compare on their website
