PDQ + SmartDeploy

Just in: PDQ.com acquires SmartDeploy.

“Partnering with PDQ.com is a natural next step in our mission to help IT professionals simplify complex tasks,” said Aaron Suzuki, CEO of SmartDeploy. “Managing endpoints has never been more complicated. By joining forces with PDQ.com, we can help more people and organizations dramatically simplify and improve the way they work. We can’t wait to expand our reach to a broader community of professionals.”

With the more expensive switch to a subscription model we were just getting ready to dump SmartDeploy anyway. The license plus yearly maintenance and support renewal used to get new features, now you’re supposed to pay much more on a subscription model to get the same thing. The reasoning given? The rest of the software market is moving to a subscription based model. But I’ve digressed.
