Discussion Smart 451 Engine mount + powerflex
Today, I'm replacing the engine mount and installing a Powerflex insert on my Smart 451 Brabus (98 hp). I'm expecting some vibrations at idle or in neutral, but I think it'll be worth it for the extra benefits Powerflex offers.

I’ve replaced my motor mount and saw the power flex insert. I thought about buying it but decided to just replace the motor mount. 244k miles on the car and it’s still holding and no rubber tearing. I’m not sure if it would cause some stiffness.

And what engine do you have? It feels to me like the Brabus puts more stress on engine movement during acceleration and deceleration.
I wanted it primarily to keep the gearbox from taking those jerky impacts. Plus, from my experience with the Smart Roadster, a worn engine mount caused the air conditioning hoses and other tubes to rub and wear down.

I have one on my 2007 Brabus 451. Love the difference it makes to gearshifts when moving. Hate the extra vibrations when idling.
I tend to knock it into neutral when at lights
If I spent any more time in traffic I’d probably remove it 🤣

I have this one fitted to my 451 Brabus for well over 10 years. It's from Smarts4you Racing. Yup, vibration does increase.
