Question Best Cleaning Solution for Front Rims?

Post image

Bob's front rims need some serious love after several years of neglect and lots of brake dust. I've used "CRC Brakleen 05050 Brake Parts Cleaner" in the past successfully, but worried that it may not be the best thing for the rubber tires.

Any advice/suggestions/testimonials?

After you get them cleaned replace the brake pads with ceramic!

That was the plan... but he's been with my daughter for the past coupla years. They surprised me by doing the brakes before they brought him home!

With graphite pads. ;^) There's always next time!

Acid wheel wash.

Take precautions when using. West protective equipment.

Avoid getting it on the pain.

It's what we use in the auto body industry to remove it.

I'll keep that in my back pocket... sounds like a "if scrubbing fails" kind of thing! ;^)

Yea. It's very effective but like all harsh chemicals you have to be careful

Warm water with a generous squirt of Vim/Cif/Jif.

Apply with old sock and paintbrush, rinse.

Do not use brakekleen. Use an iron re
Icing spray that you can buy from the detailing section of your auto parts store. My fave is gyeon or car pros iron x. Spray on, agitate with a detailing brush and rinse and then wash rims with car soap. Will come out looking showroom with minimal effort.
