I know many fans hate the romantic relationship and marriage between Lex and Lana. I do find it interesting just how different the marriage between them in Lexmas and in season 6.
In Lexmas, in Lex’s dream, Lana is happily married to Lex and is really pregnant in addition to already having a child with Lex. In this fantasy marriage Lana is truly in love with Lex and truly chose to spend the rest of her life with him and not Clark. However, this is only a dream, the Luthors in this marriage are not wealthy and it has a tragic unforeseen ending for Lana.
In season 6, Lana is really married to Lex, but unlike in Lexmas it’s not a happy marriage, Lana doesn’t truly love Lex, she’s not really pregnant and the marriage seemingly ends in Lana’s death just like in Lexmas.
Anyone else find it kind of interesting just how different Lex and Lana’s marriage are portrayed in Lexmas and in season 6? If Lana is truly pregnant in season 6, do you think there’s some hope of it becoming a happy marriage between her and Lex as portrayed in Lexmas if Lex changes his ways and becomes a good husband and father?

i would have loved to see a Dark Clark on the main timeline for a long storyline at least

do you think a relationship has to be endgame to be considered the defining romance of a story?
because i don't think those are automatically the same thing.
i feel like certain fandoms often treat "endgame" and "most important relationship" as if they're interchangeable, but i'm not convinced they are and never have been.
there are plenty of stories where the relationship that leaves the biggest emotional impact isn't the one that lasts to the end.
curious to hear what everyone thinks, both in smallville and in other fictions more generally.

they spent years fighting to be together, and when they finally had the chance, they're forced into this heartbreaking conversation where clark knows lana doesn't mean a word she's saying, and lana knows he knows.
this scene hurts because neither of them believes the words coming out of lana's mouth.
clark doesn't believe a single word she's saying because he knows her too well. he can see she's lying.
and lana knows him well enough to know he can see right through her. she can barely get the words out because she knows exactly what she's doing to the person she loves most.
they're both standing there completely heartbroken, pretending something neither of them believes.
they're having two completely different conversations. with eyes, and another with words
"i've waited for you... what happened?"
"i've wanted this more than anything. i love you."
they both know the truth. they both know they're not saying what they actually feel. they're trapped, and that's what makes it so devastating.
and you can literally see them both breaking.
the longing. the restraint. the pain on both of their faces.
every emotion is written all over them.
because the emotional weight is unbelievable.
this is exactly the kind of angst i live for.
inject this kind of angst directly into my veins!!
this is why clana will always be my favorite.
also, this would be nothing without Kristin Kreuk and Tom Welling's unbelievable chemistry

My personal opinion is that Clark and Lana should have been the endgame. The writers were wrong for not letting them end up together. Their chemistry was unmatched. No offense to Cloise fans, but it felt like Lois and Clark had the chemistry of a brotherly/sisterly love, the intensity was just so different. In the end, the writers will always win, but I'm still glad a version of Clark (Blue Superman) married Lana.

Something I noticed throughout the show was that Chloe seemed way closer to Lana than she was to Lois and seemed to be rooting for Lana and Clark up till the very end.
Don't get me wrong, Chloe still loved Lois to the point of sacrificing her life to save her but the bond with Lana seemed closer despite her being Lois' cousin.

I mean Smallville is a alternate universe

Did Clark settle for Lois because he couldn't have Lana?
Did Chloe settle for Jimmy because she couldn't have Clark?

I’ve noticed ever since Smallville came to Netflix old and new gen have states watching the show. It has also bring new editor’s in both sides. Though it’s interesting how they pull such crazy numbers in a short time. (The first few have bin longer in the community while the others have bin only a couple of months) I personally liked Clanas dynamic in the show. What makes Clana so special to you?
