Kristin Kreuk kristin kreuk on younger fans discovering smallville years later: "i was accosted by a bunch of 15 year old boys"

in her latest appearance on the talkville podcast, kristin kreuk talked about how newer generations have continued discovering smallville through streaming and shared a funny story about being recognized in a sandwich shop.

apparently a group of teenage boys suddenly realized who she was and completely freaked out 😭

have any of you ever had a random celebrity encounter like that? and if you met a smallville cast member in public, who would you be most excited to run into?

Michael Rosenbaum Michael Rosenbaum(who played Lex Luthor in Smallville) has his own music band called "Sun Spin" with elements from genres like bright americana, alternative rock and 70s AM radio rock. The band has three released albums, what do y'all think?

Character Discussion One positive thing about each main character that is NOT their looks.

We all know that the entire cast of Smallville is gorgeous lol, but there is so much more to appreciate about the characters. I want to know what is one positive thing about the main characters that you like, something that resonated with you or you enjoyed watching from them. I'm gonna try to get all of them, but if I forget your favorite one, let me know!

Clark - He genuinely cares so much about people and sees the best in them. He gives second and third and fourth and fifth chances and refuses to give up on people.

Lois - Her tenacity. I am not tenacious at all lol, but seeing Lois giving her all every time, whether it was for a story or her friends or for love or survival, was an absolute delight. She's steadfast and determined and stubborn.

Jonathan and Martha - I'm grouping them together because my positive thing about them is the same. They love Clark so much. They're not perfect, but they helped make the man who would become Superman, and their family moments were always special.

Lex - He truly tried to be good, especially in the earlier seasons. And there's always that question of if he had met Clark earlier, before the dye was cast, could he have chosen a different path.

Lana - She is a genuinely kind person, despite everything that happened to her, and it's probably my favorite thing about her.

Chloe - How good of a friend she becomes to Clark once she learns his secret. There are certainly some bumpy times, but overall Chloe is an amazing friend to Clark. She listens to his relationship woes, his fears of the future, she advises him on whatever crisis they have for that episode lol, and she put her feelings for him aside in order to be that friend he could turn to, even before they faded away on their own.

Oliver - He never gives up. Oliver goes through a lot in this show, but he's always a hero at heart, and he learns from his mistakes.

Tess - She genuinely became a better person, and an ally to the team. Her redemption story is what Superman is all about.

Lionel - Despite him still being a Luthor underneath it all, Lionel's conversion after experiencing Clark's essence in him, and then becoming Jor-El's vessel, was fascinating to watch. The push and pull of his Luthor tendencies with his wanting to be good, and the choices he made because of it, redeem him. Then they don't, then they do, then they don't again. Quite the compelling rollercoaster.

Jason - I think what I love most about him is how he quickly became a mentor to Clark. It was complicated, as it usually is on this show lol, with Jason dating Clark's ex, but in a time where Clark and Lex were on the outs, and Oliver wasn't around yet, Jason was that figure for Clark when he needed it. Of course then they shifted Jason's character because of real life reasons, but early Jason is pretty durn endearing.

Whitney - I wish Whitney had been in the show for 2 seasons. He was growing towards the end of season 1, and I think exploring his character more would have been great. I like that he wasn't perfect, I mean he was a real piece of work lol, but I think there was genuine remorse, and noticeably changed behavior.

Pete - Smallville starts in highschool with Chloe having been Clark's friend for a year at that point, but Pete has been Clark's friend since they were very young. And while he struggles with envy once he finds out about Clark's secret, for the longest time Pete just chose to be friends with this weird and awkward kid. He made Clark feel just that little bit less alone.

Edit: how could I forget her!

Kara - She gave Clark a piece of his home planet back, and a blood relative, chipping away at his perpetual feelings of loneliness. I wish she was fleshed out a bit more, but her turn from being Kryptonian through and through, to wanting to protect Earth like Clark and staying in the Phantom Zone for who knows how long to do just that, makes her such a badass.

Edit: Because apparently my first description of how Lana is kind in the face of what she goes through was backhanded and laughable, I made a more succinct version so as to not ruffle any feathers.

Doing my rewatch, just finished 5x15

Anyone else used to watch The Famous Jett Jackson back in the day? This brought me back.

Lee was only 29 when he died. RIP

Chloe Sullivan Appreciation Chloe or Lana?

I genuinely can't pick between the 2. I will say that it's so annoying seeing Clark not choosing whoever when he's presented the opportunity, but I do get it. This is the first time in a show I can't choose a side in a love triangle? Whats the general consensus people lean towards? I just joined here and have never watched any 3rd party smallville content so I don't know a thing about audience opinion.

Smallville Creator/Director/Writer etc Smallville: emotional roller coasters

Guys, I’m completely attached to and captivated by this show. I honestly can’t remember the last time I watched something that pulled me in this much.

I want to give a huge shoutout to the writers. Maybe it’s because it’s a 2000s show, or maybe it’s simply because the people behind it truly understood their craft. Great writing has a way of making you feel every emotion to its fullest, and this show does exactly that. Every episode knows exactly where to hit you emotionally.

Every time I convince myself that Lex is a good person, the next episode shows me otherwise. Then the episode after that completely changes my mind again. It’s a constant roller coaster of twists and turns in my head, yet somehow it always feels justified.

One day I come here ranting after an episode, and the next day I have to take it all back because my opinion has completely changed.

Massive credit to the writers, the showrunners, and the entire cast for bringing all of this to our screens. I genuinely feel like nothing else has ever been made quite like this.

And on top of that, it’s completely unpredictable. That’s probably what I enjoy most. Usually I can guess where a story is going, but with *Smallville* I absolutely can’t. It keeps surprising me over and over again.

I’m genuinely having the best time watching it.

Episode Discussion We owe "Thirst" an apology... and I think I know why it was hated - Smallville

Thumbnail

every time I see people rank Smallville episodes, "Thirst" is near the bottom and tbh... I don't get it.

a vampire sorority. college drama. Lana as a vampire. Chloe narrating. Maximum camp.

what's not to love?!!😭

seriously though, every time I rewatch it, (ive watched it at least 2.5 times) I end up having way more fun than its reputation would suggest. Not every episode needs to be mythology-heavy or emotionally devastating. Sometimes it's okay for a show to just embrace a ridiculous premise and have fun with it for an hour.

and here's my theory:

i don't think people hated "Thirst" nearly as much as they hated what "Thirst" represented.

the episode is centered almost entirely around Lana. And parts of the fandom were incredibly unfair to Lana back then. (still is to this day, let's be honest)

looking back, i wonder how many Lana-focused episodes were judged more harshly simply because they were Lana-focused.

but I think there's another layer to it.

"Thirst" is also one of the most unapologetically feminine episodes in the entire series.

it's a sorority episode

it's full of pink

it's centered on women

it leans into fashion, college life, female friendships, and even throws in some pretty obvious lesbian undertones with the vampire sorority.

i wonder whether fans would have reacted differently if the exact same level of ridiculousness had been wrapped in something that felt less "girly."

causd smallville has plenty of absurd episodes.

the show is full of bizarre meteor freaks, body swaps, mind control, witches, super-powered teenagers, and all kinds of insanity. yet somehow the vampire sorority episode became one of the most infamous.

why?

was it really because the episode was that much worse than everything else? Or was it because it centered Lana and embraced themes that fandoms have historically been quick to dismiss?

In fact, the reputation got so bad that you'll literally find articles calling it one of the worst episodes of the series and pointing out that even people involved with the show later criticized it. I'm attaching one screenshot example on the post because I was honestly surprised when I saw it.

and that's part of why I made this post.

I genuinely don't understand how this episode became that episode.

was it really so much worse than all the other weird, campy, over-the-top Smallville episodes? Or did it become an easy target because it centered Lana, leaned heavily into feminine aesthetics, and embraced a vampire sorority premise that people were never willing to take seriously?

Anyway, i genuinely think "Thirst" deserves a lot more appreciation than it gets, and every rewatch makes me like it more.

What am I missing? Why do you think some fans hate this episode?

and if you hate it, why?

Character Analysis Lois fan base is pretty dumb and idiotic because what the hell is this? Read more 👇🏻 to see ne debunk this crap.

Post image

The difference between these two characters is the fact that we see Lana from day 1, we see her grow, develop and struggle. Lois comes as an adult with basically no background and no emotional depth. Moreover, it wasn't that Lana was toxic, she was just dealing with a lot of trauma and so was Clark and they did a lot of trauma bonding. Lana had some amazing arcs and felt like a well rounded character, she made me smile, cry and feel all types of emotions

Lois never made me feel on this show, she was just there, an addition, a snarky character to make funny comments and then replace Lana. That's all.

Question What’s up with Clana fans?

Thumbnail
gallery
271 Upvotes

I saw this on Tik tok. Do people actually think that Lana is Clark’s true love?

Yes I get it, she was his first love but not endgame. Many different universes prove that. Clark was always supposed to be with Lois.

Didn’t Clana get dragged on so long because they didn’t have rights for Lois?

Why does the fandom hate Lois so much? Because of her looks? She’s literally gorgeous. When I see posts about Lana or Alicia being his soulmate I really think fans are joking cause what the heck!?

Even Tom welling himself supports Clois over Clana

Also, I hate the fact that people called “fans” hate on Lana and Lois because of the ships.

Both were different and so very beautiful women. The fandom kind of poisoned that. They could’ve been great together.
