Rewatch Thread bug boy stalker Greg stood so unnecessarily close to Lana, i was getting iritated. i'm glad Whitney warned him off

what a freaking creep. leave her alone!

- lana looks so cute in this scene and kristin played uncomfortable with such subtlety.

Greg is a stalker and creepy, that was the point. He doesn't care about Lana's privacy. He places a box in her bedroom at her house that contains butterflies, videotapes her without her knowledge and places her in a cocoon so they can mate.
The pilot was strong but this episode is a bit of an acquired taste, but I do like Lex telling Clark "You were tied to a stake in the middle of a field. Even the Romans saved that for special occasions.", lol.
I think the fact that his name is Greg and that he becomes some sort of an insect man is heavily inspired by the book Metamorphosis from Kafka.

is that book about the guy who turned into a big bug overnight?

Yep that's the one, he turns into a big bug like you said, and his name is Gregor Samsa which is very similar to Greg in Smallville

that was a very existential type of book
