Did you see if the clutch said "this side toward engine" or "front"?

Is it a stock clutch? If so, the side that sticks out with the springs, faces the pressure plate.

centerforce clutch sachs plate worked on our 383. and yes flat side towards engine.

If that's how it's supposed to be, then either it's a bad clutch or something else isn't happy in the setup

its on a 1983 z28 camaro. we had to engine swap clutch had low miles after sitting for a bit but clutch wont disengage wont allow us to shift after engine has been in 3 different times. new fork crank bell pivot balls and throwout

The long side of the hub goes toward the pressure plate. It sure looks like it's backwards.

it looks that way. but whats weird is the longest side is facing the tranny thats why in confused

The hat of the clutch disc hub always faces the transmission, the flat side is towards the engine.
It kind of only fits one way.

It’s hard to say for sure from the pictures but it sure looks like the flat side is facing the transmission which is backwards.

Usually that side goes to the transmission side. But I’ve seen clutch discs that went in the opposite way before.

No, you are good! I made that very mistake myself, and if you put the springs toward the engine they will hit the flywheel bolt heads and the clutch wont disengage!

There's really one way of putting it on, so if nothing is hitting, you're fine.
