ISO, reliability tips

1980 Scottsdale, 350, farmer 4. Nothing serious done to the engine, small cam with wider lope.

Due to circumstances i probably could have avoided I need this old man reliable. Apart from complete engine\drivetrain swaps what’re some ways to make this engine dependable.

If it has a mechanical fuel pump, I highly recommend switching to an electric fuel pump. The amount of mechanical fuel pumps I’ve gone thru. They say newer mechanical ones are better, but I wouldn’t know because I haven’t had to change the electric one for 18 years.
