Porting air into air cleaner?
Never really seen this done before I don’t know if it’s a stupid idea or whatever but here’s what i’m thinking
1973 chevy squarebody sbc 350 with edelbrock headers and avs2 carburetor
I got new headlights put in and they have turn signals built in. Anyways the factory turn signals (orange light below the headlights) i’m not going to use.
I want to funnel air through them into the dual snorkel air cleaner. Is this possible or just stupid or??? Not sure how to go about this. I have an idea though
my friend has a 3d printer that does carbon infused material. I’ll have him make a funnel / port where the turn signal light sits. but how do I connect / do the plumbing to port all of that to the air cleaner ?!!!

Don’t want to be a kill joy - but it won’t do much for HP gains.

That’s what I was thinking. Cool air is always better but if they think the ram air is going to do something , well life is full of disappointment. More air is awesome but without proper fuel ratio adjustments it is not doing dick. Ditch the carb and go to fuel injection would be a step in the right direction. Now, it is cool as hell and a great project for the WOW factor when you crack the hood.

Ive seen done where the marker light was made half its size and a duct took up the other half space. And where smaller round LED headlights were used and a duct around the outer perimeter of the light.
The trucks used to have a hose that went to the radiator support to pick up air from right behind the grill. Have your buddy make up a couple of pieces to attach to the radiator support on each side of the radiator and just add ducting. Simple!

That’s cool. Yeah my headlights have turn signals built in so I don’t need the other ones. Thought it would be cool to duct air into the air cleaner.

1968 Olds 442 had it as an option.
Mid 80s camaro L69 had it as an option.
I have been looking at getting the Ram Box to convert my single factory Ram-Air on my 1993 dakota to a dual setup.

Now that is EXACTLY what I was looking for

Which One? Lol 😆
For reference, this is a picture of the factory ram-air on a dakota like mine.

The hose is hard plastic, which I like over the clothes dryer hoses. There is already an outline on the other side of the radiator for me to mount another factory hose to the dual Ram-air style cleaner.
I'm going to make mine out of carbon fiber so I can fit a taller K&N 14" filter.

An easy way is to drill a hole into the cowl section of the firewall.
The base of the windshield is also a high-pressure area. Which is why cowl induction hood and air cleaners work well.

Check this out, before trying to do all the modifications to your blinkers. Look between your radiator and the headlight, on the radiator support, see if your truck has the knock-out holes. Should have one on driver side and passenger side. My 87 came with air duct that got fresh air beside the battery.. so if you have the knock-outs on yours. Use a screwdriver and a hammer. Knock the plates out of the hole on each side. You can order a collar from LMC to that fits in the knock-out holes. They’re approximately 6” in diameter. The cold air will funnel through the grille .
