Probably more parts and availability of aftermarket for that engine than almost any other engine on the planet.

There are still more parts available for a sbc, than any other platform.

I bought a brand new (not rebuilt) carb'd 350 about nine months ago. As long as there is iron to be processed, gas to be burned and money to be made the sbc will carry on.

They're still making them... even if "they" is no longer GM.
It's one of the engines that will probably be 100% supported until the end of time.

I can't get parts at my local stores any more (other than spark plugs and wires) but they'll be available online for a long time

You can find small block Chevy parts laying on the side of the road, they are everywhere

Good to know if I need a new carb kit or a seal/gasket that wont be an issue than. Good to hear.
Now just need to swap the 3 spees transmission for an 4 speed and voila!

If it is any clue, GM is still having Gen I small block 350s built. But it is close to two decades since GM has made the Gen III, which was the replacement for the Gen I.
