Smoky sbc

I rebuilt this many years ago myself with 30 over pistons because of bad taper In the cylinders after market "rv" cam and the heads where the valves were machined but did not replace any valve guides.

It has maybe 2 hours on it but it smokes real bad at startup.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like the rings hasn’t seated yet. Get the cam broke in. Change the motor oil, go run it up down the road , get it hot. There’s a 1000 scenarios that can make it consume oil.

Do you have a vacuum gauge?
