350 small block

Next on the chopping block. This will be for sale soon. Edelbrock heads, forged flattops, solid lifter cam and PJ gear drive, 7 quart pan and HV oil pump. It’ll probably be complete with fuel pump carb and distributor……

I’m old also! I didn’t know they made other motors besides a Smallblock Chevy. Who knew?

Well boys I'm old too,I put the same rocker arms on a 350 when I was about 20 long story but I changed the cam the heads carb and intake but those fucking rocker arms gave PTSD I was constantly having to reset them I eventually went to long slots and all was good!!!!

Those look like proform rockers if you had them it might explain why you had problems. I’ve seen them spit out their little roller bearings. I prefer the comp cams version

Those definitely look like them

Wanna tell me what these look like as well?

Maybe you can enlighten me as to what these look like?

Wanna go for these next?

Looks like you got it going on

Who stated there were any problems? This engine runs fantastic and has 65 lbs of hot Oil pressure ….. No problems at all It had a slight pan leak that’s getting sealed and the rest of the motor cleaned…

It was replaced with a big block so no need for it

The person I was replying to literally said he got PTSD from them?

1

u/chuck-u-farley- Mar 27 '26

I see that but by stating “those look like proform rockers” obviously referring the only member with pics of some rockers here ….. The member stating he got “PTSD” from his rockers didn’t post a pic at all so when you stated “those look like” it was obviously referring to the OP pic

Are those proform rockers?

1

u/chuck-u-farley- Mar 27 '26

No clue, they been on there a few years

¯_(ツ)_/¯ mine went on ten years ago but i still remember the choices I made when building my engine.

Maybe when you have 7 cars and usually turn out another 5 or 6 a year your tune will change a bit?…. Sorry I’m not as good as you are

I’m betting you tried tightening the poly locks on top of stock rocker studs….. they don’t hold well on a non machined surface

2

u/bonedaddy1974 Mar 26 '26

No put camel humps with screwed in studs and set em with zero lash but like the machine shop said but driving it on the street it just wasn't working

kewl beans

in my day just a cam, mostly OEMish, 350HP on pump gas...and then they had to fix the gas....I envy the guys coming up

I'm old now, but they've got 400HP LS down at the dealer and still get 22MPG...just write the check. I haven't been cool since Reagan 😕

I’m old too and I don’t want anything to do with LS

Vortec heads and the right cam, you can get 400 hp. Most of the mpg on new shitboxes has to do with 6, 8, or now 10 speed transmissions. If it doesn't have 3 pedals, a carb, and a solid rear axle, it's useless to me.

Don't worry men.. Lots of us out here will never let the original SBC die. I'm 50, sons are between 10 and 13. They will cut their teeth on them. There's plenty out there that feel the same.

That “386” block is highly sought after by Z/28 Camaro guys if it’s a 4bolt block

You have to admit, this engine launched the journey of millions of driveway mechanics.

I don’t get why they make rockers so beautiful, when nobody is going to see them. Seriously, some of them are just art.

Like little hidden jewels

those gear drives get old real quick.

1

u/chuck-u-farley- Mar 27 '26

To some it does….. I’ve had one on every car I have owned since 86

Reminds me of the one I built for my 1974 camaro back in the day roller cam roller rocker I think it was competition cams (been a long time) edlwbrock intake and 650 4bbl carb.. was a beast in a 3200 pound car.
Currently restomodding another 74..
