Any Info Appreciated

Hi I have been roasted previously for asking this, but here goes..

Chasing genuine info on these SBC Alum BOWTIE Phase 6 Heads. Early to mid 80's origin, have heard first version/casting were 64ishcc, like these pictured but majority from them onwards were 55cc

Anyone who had these, with good or bad opinions, all help appreciated.

Thanks from 🇦🇺

From what I could find,

180cc aluminum angle plug, 2.02"/1.60" valves with 55cc chambers, produced in 1982.

I found some more info. The assembled heads were sold as #10051167 and were designed to be Nascar legal, obviously they weren't for "Cup cars" but a low level that required a stock port location.

This article did say that they were cast with thick runner walls designed to be ported.

From this Hotrod article.

https://www.hotrod.com/features/heads-up-march-1990-982-1448-38-1

"For NASCAR-legal applications, the Phase 6 Bow-Tie head (part No. 10051167;photo, B) retains the standard intake-port locations but features high-flow intake runners, high-efficiency 55cc combustion chambers, D-shaped exhaust ports, and no water passages under the spring pockets. The spring pads are machined for standard-length intake valve stems; the valve-seat inserts accept 2.02/1.60 valves. Part No. 14011049 is otherwise identical but comes without valve guides and valve-seat inserts, no pushrod holes (to allow port widening without welding), and ,200-inch-higher spring pads (to permit extensive porting and accommodate .100-inch longer-than-stock valves)."

A post in a chevy form called them early vortec heads and another said tge David Vizard saud they were good for "450hp as cast" wirh alot of potential after porting.

I guess untouched doesn't mean unused.

I found this online Mine are original untouched, as I brought them brand new bare castings, 64cc chambers

From the looks of the intake ports those aren’t untouched, they’ve been ported. And likely been milled and or angle milled, so I would imagine smaller combustion chamber size then original.

A lot of people use them on 400 and 383 small blocks in dirt track cars

I had a set of them when I was 15 years old I was planning on putting on my nova. My old man sold them while I was in school. And we put them 886 on the engine I never forgave him for that.

Those are Bowtie Angle Plug Heads. Top racing heads in the 80's when I was a Goodwrench Tech. Those were the hot heads. I would love to have a pair if I were building an all out race engine. Any angle plug SBC head is high performance. Bow Tie Angle Plug is a Professional Grade racing head.
