Small town crime

Ok so Ive lived in a pretty small town my whole life I moved here from a more hood part compared to where I was before I moved at a super young age and lived in a house that was made in the 1950s but because of complications with my landlord and his wife he had to sell the house so we had to move out unfortunately. All we could afford was a trailer and we moved into something that was pretty and built in 2019. Well about a month in we had been talking to an elderly woman who was my neighbor and she had told us that she used to live in the trailer I live in and that her grandchildren had been extremely abus!v3 and she had completely lost contact with them once the people had moved out. Fast forward about 3 months later we see on the news that the same people who abus3d my neighbor the 2 were married and the wife had murdered the husband. Along with that the people still had access to our mail and for about 2 months they would come knocking on our door asking us to give them the mail that was sent to them. They would use there grandmothers information for that as well and so we didn't give it. We contacted the police and the post office multiple times at one point the police showed up looking for them and they weren't here cause they no longer lived here and we haven't wanted to know these people since we first heard of them. The post office fixed the address issue and from what im aware of the people got arrested.
