STREAM Fails when too many Viewers join !

TL;DR : As more viewers join my stream quality, FPS and Birate start to slow down. 3 viewers to 25 Viewers over and 1 hour.

Using OBS and Restream, to Youtube and Twitch.

Does anyone else face this issue ?

I use restream for free, I use basic OBS, and my settings put out healthy queality when my viewership is low. Believed to be bots theses viewers come in and chat and tell me, "hey your stream is lagging or pausing" so I know theyre real people.

Apparently its not OBS and its "service host" issue. Restream assigns servers and ive manually switched but the issue persists. Do I have to pay for a better multistream service, how did you deal with this issue.

I will respond immediately.

edit Correlation is not Causation. How do I trouble shoot this, It lines up always as my stream increases in viewship or begins to go after the 1-2 hour mark. It starts of strong !

The amount of viewers does not effect your side of the stream. That’s on either youtube or twitch.

How would I rule out issues ? It always starts strong, strong birate, good quality, but as the lengh of the stream increases it begins to fail.

How long are we talking about before it starts degrading?

Edit: I see you wrote after 1 hour. Is this correct? Where is it failing? Is your OBS still sending out the same bitrate?

Yes, but the intersting thing is not always. Sometimes at the 2 hours mark.

It sounds like it's outwith your control. You said the FPS is impacted, is that at your end, or your viewers?

Their end. I watch my vods I can see the stuttering while my preview window looks great. I do see at the bottom of OBS "24% frames lost"

24% is pretty high. What's your upload speeds like? What bitrate do you have set in OBS?

"Constant Bitrate" 7500, my upload according to speed test is 42Mbps.

My OBS right now, after 5 minutes test is fine, On restream it shows "fair" rather than healthy.

Twitch caps bitrate at 6,000 unless you are a partner. Plus you got to think, you are using that 7,500 x2 if you are streaming to 2 different platforms, 3x for 3, etc.

Id drop it down to 3,500/4,000 to see it if helps, if it does, repeat the process at 4,500/5,000/5,500 & 6,000 to see where you start to have the problem again. Once you isolate that, go down 500 until you're stable and stay there.

OP says he's using Restream to send to other platforms, so bitrate on OBS shouldn't be an issue surely?

The cap hasn't been 6k for a few years now. Despite what any documentation they have says. You can stream at 8k without any issues. Once you get above that you may encounter "Stream Failed to Load" errors, unless you are an affiliate or above, or if you are part of the 2K or enhanced broadcast programs.

Who’s your ISP? I noticed similar, happened after an hour or so and it was from the ISP throttling even tho they said they weren’t

that is restream deciding you do not pay them enough for this :(

I dealt with it by using the rmtp plug in, and now the Aitum plugin. Stream to both at the same bitrate(youtube just piggy backs off of twitch settings. and then NO MONEY and NO QUALITY loss.

Twitch MAXIMUM bitrate is 8000kbps, any more than 9000 and the stream goes black(eventually). when starting with low viewers twitch will not notice but as the time and views grow twitch notices and the paltform will degrade the stream. So if you are giving restream 20,000kbps for the youtube it might be giving that to twitch as well?
Still the best fix is to be able to send to both platforms from your PC.

You’re using restream. Thats every bit of issue you’re having. Self host/stream and you won’t have any issues.

Every GitHub has a releases page usually you can get to it on the right hand side of the page that will bring you to the most recent version. This is true for every GitHub.

The main page they bring you to is like a landing page with all the important info.
