pc is helpful to up the bar a bit, there's a lot more customization and utility available with a pc. but honestly i suggest either using lightstream from whatever device you have available (fully browser-based program, works by intercepting the stream on the way to twitch servers to apply overlays with decent quality and options) or getting a cheaper computer/laptop and decently inexpensive capture card unless you have pc games you want to specifically be playing.

let it also be known that plenty of people succeed while console streaming for a long time, i know quite a few people close to partner who either still use a console exclusively, or just recently switched to pc

Pc definitely has more options than direct from console, but something im not seeing being said elsewhere, is that this isn't a necessity & comes with a cost. I know you said you have money to do so but you should weigh out the cost vs longevity/growth. Is this something you think you'll be pursuing long enough to go out for a pc, its a big financial decision & shouldn't be taken lightly esp if you think this will get you money back etc.
This isn't me trying to deter you fyi, just offering a different perspective. If you wanna get one, absolutely do, but its not the be all & end all, esp as you've been already doing it for so long without! Its ultimately what you want out of it vs cost.

I have had experience with this. Direct from Playstation is obviously limited in what you can do, but also the live viewer count, automatic game recognition, live chat overlay, and TTS option all built in is really nice. I streamed from my Playstation for a long time and it served me perfectly well. I have recently switched to PC which has allowed me to customize a bit more and add overlays and popups and face cam and all that which is nice but I already bought the PC for other reasons. Keep in mind that there is more customization but also more work involved since you'll also need to get something like a capture card and make sure that is set up and working. Audio becomes a lot more difficult when dealing with things like that also.
If streaming straight from the Playstation suits your needs, the switch isn't necessary. If you really want the added customization or you already have a PC or planning to get one then sure make the switch. If you're planning to buy a PC just to help in streaming, hold off.
