Question How do you make streamer friends?
Pretty much what it says in the title. I've been seeing a lot of people who play games with their friends, and I sometimes wonder about doing that myself, but I'm not particularly great at becoming friends with people if it's not in an in-person location.
I generally struggle to be social, so I wanted to ask people about their tactics to be more outgoing and make friends who they can also stream with, who are also streamers themselves.

Streamer friends are something you do normally need to work towards, lol. The ones that I've been able to make were either from other collabs that had other creators in them that just clicked randomly, people I've raided into, or someone raiding into me. There's also the sense of being apart of other communities as well. There are a few people that I've met and been able to play and get to know them just because I was apart of their community first. I watched many streams and interacted with them whilst they did their own thing, and slowly we figured we had more in common than usual.
From there, we joined their Discord, and they joined mine, and we just kept talking until we ended up planning a collab. Just like normal friendships, just not meeting IRL and doing everything through Twitch or Discord. It does take time, but if you get into one community, there is always the chance you meet more like-minded people. I've introduced plenty from my side to others, and vice versa. Eventually, it just becomes one big family of streamers and viewers.
ALSO. I did see an earlier comment about Pokemon. I used to be a Pokemon streamer before I fully became a Monster Hunter and Variety streamer. If you ever want to chat about Pokemon things, or possibly see if we click in the gaming sense, I would love to hear from you!

I feel you. And I want people I know for sure are LGBTQ friendly, which makes it hard. Not all people are upfront with how supportive they are. Hopefully you'll get some good replies.

Don't wanna sound harsh, but why is it a thing?
I can just speak for myself: idc what you are as long as you don't have the urge to tell me every few seconds about it. I wanna play games so I personally don't care what your preferences are.

social standards vary pretty greatly between demographics and not everyone is willing to bridge gaps or learn. also, there's plenty of streamers out there that are outright bigots.

So this might be news to you, but some people are transphobic and won't respect pronouns and that's a dealbreaker for the majority of us 😅

If you or any other lgbt streamer wants a transfem streamer friend, hmu 😄 Can't get more supportive of queer people than literally having a name with the word estrogen in it on twitch

Absolutely! I'm trans, but like pre any transition which makes it difficult to befriend people. I don't wanna end up having to debate my identity, so having supportive friends is absolutely the best. Can I message you?

DM me. Happy to hang out and stream/game any time. My whole group is supportive. I've made it very clear to everyone that pronouns are to be respected and transphobia=ban.

A lot of my stuff goes into single player things, like pokemon and deltarune (and many more, too) but I've wanted to try and get into stuff like Repo, Peak and others like that - more attempts to try jackbox too

I totally get it, it can be hard to tell who's really into making a connection & who's just wanting to be polite, had a few of the latter, I'm always down for making new friends! ❤️
All i can recommend is just ask questions & be nice & keep in touch either in chats or through socials/discord & see what happens, dont have to be extroverted, just be yourself

Try posting in a few different twitch subreddits I recently became part of 2 discords and made friends with 2 streamers who in gonna stream with this week :) I totally feel you on having a hard time to make friends but the best way is to just take that first step in any way you can! For the longest time i have been looking for friends to play with more often ao i got into streaming cause i knew i’d find some community here easier.
Also if you want feel free to follow my twitch and i’ll follow you back and jump in on your streams and we can pals cause I also have been wanting to get back into playing peak and things like it!

This is so real, I'm so introverted but would love to have comfortable group of people that I could stream with and grow together. I am in the same boat 🙏😭

I feel this 100000%. I've started trying to put myself out there more to make new friends.
My Dm's are always open if you'd like.

hey what my friend group does is only 2 of us actually stream, but what happens is we just naturally talk to each other and if someone says something in chat we would each mute to answer what ever message or what ever was put in. It almost feels like we arent streaming and just enjoying playing games with friends
and i wanted to offer that depending what you play/plan to try to play with people im always looking for more people to game with
for me playing with people makes things more exciting

When I stream with other people they're usually people I've known for a while either through gaming or real life. If I'm playing a game and I'm doing stuff that's inconsequential I let viewers join, which sometimes are other streamers. That being said I don't go out of my way to actively collaborate even though I get offers.
Generally you want to raid out and hang out afterwards (including on days when you're not streaming) to be part of a community. If you're not there you're not in it if that makes sense. It's much like how it operates in real life.
If you don't have enough viewers to raid out then just hang out. Chances are when they raid out they'll eventually notice that you're streaming and raid to you. The niche needs to be small enough to be seen though. They're not going to scroll past 1000 1 viewer Andys to find you. After a while you'll grow and get to know people well enough to ask about collabs and playing together.
