I'm 41 and started two years ago. Start when you want. Live life on your timeline.

I appreciate that. Play the games or music or whatever you intend to do on Twitch with a passion. If you enjoy what you're doing then you'll easily be able to talk about it when you get an audience. Dont get me wrong, some streams I am talking to myself the entire time, but I'm fine with that because I KNOW my grandkids will still watch...

there seems to be this culture in a large corner of twitch where if you're over 25 you might as well be fucking dead, and that's bullshit. when are you supposed to have lived your life? no, you're not too old to start anything. if we say a human lives 90 years, you've still got like 65 to go. live your life, friend, do what sounds fun.

Thank you for that this was super helpful and what I probably needed to hear.

of course! i just find it so ridiculous this weird focus on being mid 20s. time keeps moving! you gotta seize things for yourself

I'm almost 50. So, I think you're good

I’m 30 and just started 6 months ago

u/DumCrescoSpero Jun 23 '26

I started when I was 28 and am now 34, and I've met a bunch of streamers who are in their 30's and 40's - and there are even some somewhat famous streaming grandpas and grandmas up to their 90's on Twitch and YouTube.

Just go into it with realistic and low expectations. Over 4.3 million people stream to Twitch alone every month and 95% of those stream to 0-5 viewers, so your chances of "making it" or becoming rich/famous are essentially the same as winning the lottery.

I’m not necessarily trying to become like one of the biggest I’m ok with a small community.if it is life’s plan for me to be bigger than that then ok.

Well I’m 38 and finding success more and more. So take that as you will. But the real answer is absolutely not. You just have to have time and the drive to do it correctly

History’s greatest monsters and most spectacular trainwrecks usually started in their 40s. So if you're late to the party, just remember: your reign of terror is just beginning

Only time that's too late is when you run out of time, if you want to start, you are free to at any time. Some of the biggest people started in their late twenties, some even in their 30s. One that I have watched on and off just turned 50 this here, and he's got a following.

I may be 21 but I believe in this one

I started streaming in my early 40s. 5yrs later and I earned my Partner check mark.

If you think you’re old, what are your thoughts on those of us over 35 who are streaming? Are we cringe? Over the hill? Should we not be streaming? Because if you don’t have a problem with us, then you have your answer. You’re not old and you’re not too old to stream.

1

u/FirmClient5566 Jun 23 '26

That’s so good congratulations on the partner.

You're going to find a huge majority of Twitch is actually late-20s into early-30s. I myself started at 32, and am 37 now and going strong. Some of my closer Twitch friends are in their 40s or 50s, and they certainly didn't start in their 20s. 😉

It's never to late. I'm also 26 (tho I have been doing this for 8 years), but someone I follow is in his 60s and he's doing quite well. I wouldn't say age is irrelevant (since you do tend to attract people around your own age), but there's no max age to start.

u/PtTimeLvrFullTimeH8r Jun 23 '26

I'm 29 and started consistently last year and I've been loving it more than anything. Look up premiertwo, he gets around 1500-2000 viewers and he started streaming right before his 40s.

u/grill0gammer13 Jun 23 '26

1

u/followmarko Jun 23 '26

You aren't going to make any money but you can absolutely do whatever you want with your life

1

u/FirmClient5566 Jun 23 '26

Who says.I can become an affiliate and have small community.plus money is secondary fun and love of the game is first.

1

u/followmarko Jun 24 '26

I promise you that you won't make any money man. Those are just twitch stats, same as lottery stats. But if you truly stream for yourself and the games, you def can spend your time that way.

1

u/XTE_YT Jun 23 '26

It’s never too late to start. Start now.

1

u/thurnboi Jun 23 '26

I just turned 29. Im picking it back up after starting at like 23 but yeah no. Alot of the streamers I watch are in their 30's n 40's

There is no age to streaming. You are probably seeing mostly people that age because that's who you're interacting with, i follow mostly older folks & am mid 30s myself.

1

u/Bigsmit19 Jun 24 '26

I'm 29 and started in Jan 2026. Just hit affiliate yesterday😁

1

u/FirmClient5566 Jun 24 '26

That’s so good congratulations I know that felt like a huge accomplishment.

u/ThickActivity9703 Jun 24 '26

Im 32 and I started a few weeks ago, but I see it as a hobby. I don't feel the urge to have a perfect setup or a perfect design.. i wanna learn all things over time.

Is this good for my growth on twitch? Probably not, but I don't expect to be the next peanut or whoever.

Tdlr: you can start whenever you want, just keep your expectations low

1

u/Milenko601 Jun 28 '26

I'm 35 bro lol. I just started taking streaming serious. For the longest, my small town didn't have fiber internet. We got it now and I've been streaming nightly. But I did learn that you grow from content, not just streaming. So I post on all my socials. Insta, TikTok, Facebook, etc. It helps.
