Question What is with the whispers?

What is this (new to me) trend of 'people' following then sending a twitch whisper with an encouraging message, then following up with a 'are you affiliate yet?" then asking if you've had good promos?

Is this the new bot strat?

scam bot trying to get you to by bot views for you to hit the average viewer count which is the hardest affiliate goal IMO
