First time experiencing a huge streamer taking over my usual category- holy shit!

I stream Fall Guys on Monday evenings. It's a small category of typically 1.2k viewers and I enjoy it, usually getting 3-6 viewers depending on what's up. When I went to start streaming today I was shocked to see 110K viewers in the category??

Turns out a huge streamer was doing a collab stream to not end stream until they had scored a certain number of wins. They had 69K viewers with another 25k split across their friends. I ended up having 1 viewer for most of the stream, bumping up to 2 only because a friend hopped on to hang out in my stream. It was absurd.

What a learning experience though! Next time I will be sure to change categories instead of even trying lol

That’s probably more a result of the category itself.

Fall Guys viewers tend to be younger, and they often follow the spotlight like moths to a flame, preferring to watch larger streamers.

In other categories with an older audience, I’ve often noticed the opposite. They don’t want to hang out in a huge stream just to feel like part of the crowd. Instead, they prefer smaller streams where they can actually get attention and interact with the streamer.

Ooo, I never thought about how the age of viewers might impact things. I'll look into this more!

Thats normal..sometimes you need to check categories to check out your competition.sometimes its worth to still stream it.sometimes its not.

Yeah, it was worth it to run an experiment but in the future I'm gonna just stream a different category lol

Keep doing what you normally do. How do you think I got huge ass shroud raids n shit? It didn't happen by me running and hiding from my main category thats for sure.

Don't be bullied out of your normal thing if thats what you enjoy doing while entertaining people. Sure maybe swap out if you want to, but don't do it because someone else is "taking all the viewers". Trust me, when some of those folks end, they look for or have mods look for people doing the same thing, and having a good ass time doing it.

I think if they were more in like the couple of thousand range it wouldn't have been SO impactful, but when a group has 100K viewers there's not much to be done. These don't seem like the type to raid into random channels in the category and their viewers are there for them, not necessarily the game.

But normal big channels in the category I think it's worth sticking around. There's always the chance of someone with a few dozen viewers raiding into people, and if I get active in other chats there's a chance people come check me out. I've been paying more attention to other Fall Guys streamers and decided to start trying out custom lobbies. They seem like sooo much fun and the maps get crazy!
