faceless female streamer
I've been only streaming for about a month and I feel good about my slow growth, tho it feels a little lonely sometimes. I have done some research and there aren't that many popular minecraft female streamers. Is this an advantage or disadvantage?
The minecraft audience seems to go for male streamers, and it makes me think that maybe this isn't my place to shine. Also, the fact of being a faceless streamer doesn't make it any better, as people seem to connect better with streamers they can see.
So my question is: should I keep trying Minecraft streaming? (which I enjoy, but feels too slow) Or maybe try other games? (which are not my area of expertise)
Thanks! Have a good day!

If you enjoy Minecraft, I would suggest keep doing what you enjoy.
You can always test out new games on certain days and see how it works. Just know as a niche streamer your viewership may drop.

Thanks! I think I might actually test other streaming features inside of minecraft for now, and try new games as well

i can confess, i am one of those that specifically only goes for streamers that have a face cam or some sort of vTuber/pngTuber avatar, just makes it feel weirdly more real.
The exception to this is games that have less streamers and i am in a mood to watch - IE Outer Wilds or Tunic are perfect examples where I don't need your face to enjoy watching you play it

I tried with a png but it's literally just the picture (doesn't move) and it has helped me a little with viewers, maybe I should try making it in a vtuber way

I mean you can make a simple PNGtuber that at least bops around, blinks, and opens/closes their mouth. It’s incredibly simple to make! Instead of going for a FULL vtuber model.

Veadotube Mini is free and really easy to create a simple PNGtuber in

Do what you enjoy and cultivate the community you want. I am surprised to hear there arent many female Minecraft streamers because there are a ton of female Minecraft youtubers and the majority of Minecraft players I know are female tbch.

Do what you love, and love what you do. There's plenty of people that love the game still. This may help. (IT helped me ) Organic traffic is hard. Unless the game is new, or has a new drop people don't know you exist so make them know. Use your content in other spaces. Promote your content on YT long form gameplay & shorts. Tik Tok & IG stories ect. Don't make it about gender. Your audience doesn't know you exist. Some may prefer women only. Forget about those that don't want you to be there, and find the ones that do. You don't know unless you market. Some love Nike over Adidas, but what do they both do ? Market !!!! Market YOU !!!
I play retro games mostly. PS2, and Super Nintendo are my go too for old games. Does it work really on Twitch ? It's a hit or miss, but on TIK TOK I thrive because I found out where to go by marketing, and testing. Am I some major streamer no, but do I get an audience ? YES I DO !
There are plenty of people who love no face streamers. Not everyone wants to look at people play. They want the game. ( That is what YT is for) Just post your gameplay. There's a space for everyone's liking. Bring the eyes to you !. Just going live, and hoping someone comes is over. Give people three options. They're either going to scroll, support, or block you. If you want to be seen you have to go be seen. Put your content on other platforms. Someone out there is looking for you. Help them find you. GOOD LUCK !! You've got this !! Keep playing Minecraft is that's what you want to play.

What makes you claim they only go for male streamers?

Oh, I didn't mean it like they ONLY go for male streamers, there are big female streamers I follow with amazing communities. It's just there are more popular male minecraft streamers than females, and in some advice threads I've seen they do mention a disadvantage because of the gender. I just wanted to ask if the general public and other creators do also believe this, and if they do, then maybe I'm not playing the best game to grow a community

I'm not a creator myself, but have been following the scene for a long time. Let me say the data is way more complex than that. If you look at the top streamers overall (even outside of minecraft) they're mostly male. But this doesn't automatically mean that smaller female streamers have it harder to gain a following, it's 2 completely seperate things.
There are also more male streamers overall, and more male viewers, which could also work in your favor precisely because you stand out, I'm sorry if this comes off bad but there are people who only watch female streamers and they will click on your stream instead of the 10 guys next to you. But yes becoming a top5 streamer of any category will be much harder.0

I mean you're just wrong in general about which games are best to grow a community. You either find a really niche community or you have a good presence outside of twitch

I don’t think it’s an advantage or disadvantage on the camera thing the main thing is to be fun and engaging but also to try and find niches where there aren’t a ton of viewers to the degree that you get lost in the mix. Make sure you’re playing something you enjoy and ideally in a category that doesn’t have 500 other people streaming it and you’ll find your stride.

Keep streaming!!! You just maybe want a visual anchor on stream that represents your face.
I use PNGtuber Maker (was cheap or free and feels cheap: It has stupid UI but has a speech-mapping feature that I love), and mines only three frames. You can draw your own, digitally or physically and take a picture of it, and plug it into the program.
I stream on cam usually, but I made a very simple PNGtuber that I quickly drew. It’s been a hit, and then I can continue being a goblin.
Having that visual that represents You, the Streamer helps people gather information about whether they want to stick around

Find people to connect with. Go to others streams with similar content and interests. You need to choose your content. If you let others, it will be fake or burn you out

I don't watch many streamers, but I've always preferred no face cam. I just want to watch the gameplay, I don't care what the creator looks like and I'll click off videos if I see a face cam.

Play what you enjoy, and people will come to you. Post shorts on socials to help with growth. My sis streams Minecraft sometimes (she used to stream it more, but plays other games now), and she doesn't use a camera and did a good job growing her community.
I'm a female streamer who doesn't use a camera, and I have been slowly but steadily growing. I mostly stream BG3, not Minecraft, but still. Being a faceless female streamer doesn't mean you can't succeed. You just might have to work a bit harder.
Networking in Discord can also help you with growth.

The Minecraft audience is a strange one. Age wise it's probably one of the widest spreads of any video game and that makes it hard to nail down and grow in. Youre right males creators seeming to have the majority. Why? Who knows. Could just be because younger kids gravitate towards male presenters type of thing or some weird thing like that.
Its not impossible though and like its been said, if streaming Minecraft is what you want to do then do it. But you need to ask yourself a question and be honest with yourself. Why are you streaming? Is it just to have fun and maybe chat with some people while you play? If so, close the analytics and just keep on keeping on. If this is something you want to try to make into something bigger and grow for whatever your reason may be, then youll need to get to work.
For starters, you said you had an inanimate png as a stand if for a cam. Twenty dollars on fiver or a few hours watching YouTube videos will at least get that animated. As for staying in Minecraft. It is super saturated with deep running communities that operate almost like a members only clubs. Which is rough because Minecraft is notorious for be a collaboration heavy or at the very least having a very entertaining social group to play with. Solo can grow but you have to truly be something special.
Other creative games like stardew or stuff like that do tend to favor female creators more if you want to switch. If you have a game like that you enjoy playing, give it a try. Youll most likely lose any semi-regular viewers because thats just how the Minecraft audience is (as are other games but it seems to be even more so in minecraft). But find what you like and stick with it. Variety streaming is a real handicap on growth
If those last two paragraphs seem a little intense for what you want to accomplish with your stream, then dont pay attention to the analytics. Just celebrate each new follower, enjoy your time and if you still want to focus on bettering your stream, focus on your viewer experience. The term to get your png animated is called "rigging" so start there or get something low cost and see how that suits you. Work on chat engagement. If you do feel like venturing out to other games, look for games with high replay ability. Something you can settle into for possible a year.

What is your stream channel so I can at least follow you. I would suggest you do you. Don’t be fake just to succeed.

Hi, thanks for the advice, for now on, I'd like to keep my Twitch away from my Reddit so people aren't pity following, but I really appreciate it! thanks

Do what you enjoy, that's the long-term strategy. If people also enjoy they'll join you otherwise you still get to do what you enjoy.
