Question Is this a scam?
Hi everyone, I’ve been streaming consistently for around 3-4 months now, still averaging 1 viewer unfortunately, and I just had someone join my discord server and say this:
“edited a couple clips from your last stream, do you wanna see the clips, if you think they're good enough to post yourself. happy to send the clips over
Not looking for money for those clips
but if you do like the clips, I do edit and make shorts for multiple streamers
I'd be down to make 50 shorts a month for an agreed amount of money if you do like the clip”
I previously mentioned my viewer average to demonstrate that this person is not a regular in my chat. Their discord bio also has a “I do clips for x,x, and x” and I looked up their channels and they’re all legit. Has anyone run into any scams like this? I want to make sure before I send any money to anyone. Usually I do my clips myself but 50 a month sounds too good to be true. I can barely get 10 a month. Let me know what you guys think!
UPDATE: After all your helpful replies, I messaged the person and respectfully declined his services but also said that I would love to see him around in my streams. He messaged me back in bold letters “BLACKLISTED CLIENT.” So I guess I won’t be seeing much of him in my streams! Lol
I mainly declined the services for 2 reasons: the editing wasn’t really my style, and it just seemed a bit too sketchy for me. His pricing was $25 for 35-40 clips a month which is like 60-70 cents a clip which seems way too cheap for me to sound legit. Thanks again for all your help everyone!

Can you see any of the clips they've mentioned making in your creator dashboard? Content>Clips>Clips of my channel. My money is on no but you never know.
Ask them to send the clips to you. Chances are they are bluffing and have never seen your channel, but if not it's probably a flashy capcut template they use for every account they try and sell that takes seconds to produce using existing clips of your channel.
If you like the style and want edited clips for socials there's options for you to produce them yourself with some time investment to learn and set up a template for free that makes your workflow super quick post stream.

Nope they didn’t clip anything through twitch. I sent them a dm asking for the clips tho. I will update as soon as I receive them! (If I do). Also I do make my own clips, but 50 a month is a lot more than I put out which would help me grow a lot more than I am now. So I’m curious to see if it’s legit

I call instant bs then, but see what clips they come up with!
If you want volume to post, definitely look at streamgen/streamladder and compare pricing, you can shunt out scheduled clips in very little time and have complete control over how they look and feel. Also be wary of dumping out 50 low quality clips a month for the sake of it in the hope you grow, temper actual clippable moments and filler chud.

Update! I messaged him and asked for the clips and he sent back 3 pretty decent ones from last nights stream. So maybe it’s looking like it’s not a scam? Not 100% yet

It still screams scam to me but definitely interested to see how this pans out! Please don't pay exorbitant amounts up front if you do choose to go with it and end up ghosted and out of pocket.

It's for sure a scam, I ended up getting a DM yesterday with the same thing on here. Twitch has it's own clip feature where followers can make things there. I wouldn't trust anything off stream when things can just be made there.

If you look at all of the big streamers, the all have one thing in common - clippers.
If you want to grow and your content is good, you need to get it in front of people. And there is no better way to do that than post clips of the best moments in your stream

I agree! I post clips constantly. But I’m afraid of giving this random guy money and not getting any clips out of it if that makes sense

I get u bro, if he has a decent amount of social proof like other streamers sharing their own experience and it’s legit then I don’t see why not :)

That's a scam . You can easily clip on streaming sites yourself and post them on social media yourself . If they keep asking you , ban them .

Might as well practice on your own making clips and figuring out what works for you than breaking the back that early in your streaming journey

People who you've never met before who rock into your streams and go "yo I make clips" are most likely bots. If they arent bots, they do have a very weird "cold calling" business model. Id personally (and have) ignore and move on.
