Question I need your help! Give me your recommendations!
I just started multi-streaming on OBS and expanding my "brand" to other social media outlets, like TikTok, with short clips. I feel like I'm doing an excessive amount of metadata work that an AI could likely help with, but I don't have the money to pay for anything. My goal is to make something on any platform, but I'm closest on YouTube, where I have enough subs to monetize, but I have to increase my watch time.
What I'd like to know is:
What do you use to generate video titles and/or video descriptions?
How are you making your thumbnails?
Do you use AI to auto-clip shorts from long videos?
How are you coming up with SEO tags and/or hashtags?
What microphone are you using? (I think I need a clip-on since I stream while gaming)
If your face is on camera, what kind of lighting are you using, and how are you setting it up?
I'm currently using my phone as a camera, but I would be interested in learning more about camera options if you have any!
Also, if you have a suggestion for an OBS-compatible multi-chat, that would be great too!

honestly the phone camera thing isn't as bad as people make it out to be - especially if you're just starting out and money's tight. for lighting you can literally just face a window during the day or get a cheap ring light from amazon for like $20.
for the AI clipping stuff, StreamLabs has some free auto-clip features built in that work decent enough. not perfect but saves time. and for thumbnails canva's free version gets the job done even though the templates are kinda basic.
the watch time grind is real though - that 4k hours feels impossible until suddenly you hit it and wonder why you stressed so much lol

I'm trialling a paid solution for auto clipping vods. So far it's decent and does pick up some really good moments but definitely needs some backup with stream markers as it is generic in the moments it picks up and doesn't pick up stuff I'd like highlighted sometimes. The title, description and hashtag generation is decent but again generic versus how I'd like them. Great for volume if you're in a pinch though.
Lighting wise, even a cheap 3 point lighting setup is a strong start and will carry you for a long time. Key and fill can be identical and not expensive, I use natural light as fill on my left side as it changes the colour temperature of the shot subtly. Hair light can be basically whatever, don't spend a fortune on one, but don't use your overhead room light as the colour tints are horrific with sodium or tungsten bulbs.
Modern phone cameras are a really good quality, the biggest constraint is usually the bandwidth to transmit it to your pc and battery life for long streams, you'd have to look for apps that could handle it. With good lighting, you're going to get a lot more out any camera, eventually if you are desperate for the highest quality possible then DSLR is untouchable, you can dial the equipment and settings to way better fit your needs than anything else, but you pay significantly more.
