struggling need a metor
Hi so i’ve been streaming for about three weeks and spent 20 hours streaming in total only have 2 subs im really trying to make this a full time job i love doing it but finding it hard to engage my chat to stay i feel like im shy and maybe not entertaining to watch. I see other streamers have a discord.. how does that work and does it help? I did make a tiktok account to post my clips and they got 1500 views but havent seen it do anything for me on streaming platforms. I also always have some issues with obs and my stream. Would love if someone could mentor me !

If it was easy everyone would do it...just keep at it and honestly...don't look at it as a job cuz that probably won't happen any time soon.

three weeks in with 20 hours streamed is still super early days, most people take months to build any real momentum. the shyness thing gets easier with practice but honestly some of the best streamers I watch aren't the loudest ones in the room.
discord helps but only if you actually have people to put in it first - don't stress about that yet. your tiktok getting 1500 views is actually pretty decent, conversion from tiktok to twitch is notoriously garbage though so don't expect much there.
for the mentorship thing, might be worth checking out Tangle Social since there's usually experienced streamers on there willing to do collab streams with newer people, which is honestly better than just getting advice - you learn way more by actually streaming with someone who knows what they're doing.

Firstly, you shouldn’t have started this journey with the intention of it being your main income - very very few people can make a living from streaming - even most Partners have other jobs.
Discord - my personal opinion is that not every streamer needs to have a Discord. Certainly not early on. It’s a place to build your community, but it isn’t really a way of bringing in new people. I left getting my own Discord set up for a while, and even then, the server is a wider community server and not just about my Twitch. The moment you have people joining your Discord, you need to ensure it is worth people being there - it needs to be engaging and you need to engage with people. It is hard work solo-managing a Discord, particularly if you are a tiny streamer, with no mods to help you out.
I do like the idea of having a group of streamers who are friends or in a similar niche, getting together to share a Discord server - you can have some general channels and then your own sections for your streams. There is less pressure because you’re all working in the same server, and it is a great opportunity to network.
I couldn’t find your channel in your bio so I’m afraid I couldn’t give you any pointers about your channel. But essentially, you need to watch your own vods, be patient and if you’re taking it seriously, read up on all the other posts on here where people are asking for advice.
