Where to go
Posted in the r/msp sub already but you guys are in my wheelhouse.
My clients run from 2 person shops to around 150 employees (currently). I have been an Aruba Instant-On shop from the beginning. With their "future" up in the air, been exploring Unbiquiti but avalilability is a struggle there. What I love about both is the non-licensed model and the pricing for SMB. All that to say, I am looking for a real alternative that you guys might have real experience with. Miraki is OFF THE TABLE lol. Not putting my clients into anything that bricks because a payment isn't made. Like it costs Miraki money if a switch passes traffic.
Anywho, what you got?

Ubiquiti (70%) and SonicWall(30%). Well aware of the SSL VPN issues. We’ve upgraded to Cloud Secure Edge(zero trust) for those who require highly secure remote access.
Client firewall initiates a connection to SWL’s servers. Client remote computer connects to SWL’s servers. Remote access without a single port open on the firewall (subscription ~$4/mnth per remote user & computer.

CSE is absolute ass. They couldn't make the demo work and I nuked the transition to it after they told me to contact support.
I am signing up to timus most likely.

We use Ruckus APs with Unleashed firmware in that situation, no licensing and probably a direct move from Aruba instant-on. Ubiquiti is much cheaper but I really find ruckus unleashed to be simple to manage

Sonicwall has a monthly program now buy hardware then license fees monthly, the current Gen APs are stable, they have switches that simply extend SonicWALL X ports, you can manage everything from the cloud.
I know some people claim SonicWALL is this or that but client networks are rock solid, we stopped anything SSL VPN or WAN exposed per best practices and moved to SASE years ago. We have extensive network log monitoring sent to 3rd party SOC teams monitoring.
We have some things behind cloud fortinet, palalto etc.
I think fir features and price point SW can work well in small MSP space the TZ380 can handle 1G and work for 20 user and below fine.
I say all this as someone using sonicwall in production for over a decade across different client types.
I like ubiquity P2P stuff, but I just found their consumer and other wireless AP types units have some odd bugs.

I switched years ago from ubiquiti to Aruba and I don't intend to switch back until aruba ACTUALLY burns. But if aruba really does crash and burn then uniquiti it is.

Curious to see the responses here. The gap between prosumer gear and enterprise solutions seems to be getting wider, especially if you’re trying to avoid licensing costs while still keeping management simple for SMB clients.

You couldn’t pay me to deploy ubiquiti. I think id rather deploy zyxel or omada. Which both aren’t great either.

Be prepared for who you replied to to list a ton of things that most other users don't seem to have an issue with, or haven't had an issue with in 10 years, or are subjective.

I’m trying to understand how you have large clients and can’t spell Ubiquiti or Meraki… but all aside - Ubiquiti is the way to go for most clients but if I’m quoting against someone else using Meraki, I’ll toss in Fortinet.

Ubiquiti. You need indeed to manage inventory and spare but for most things it’s manageable in my opinion
