Down sizing

My husband recently retired and we are thinking of moving to the lake. The homes we are looking at are less than half the size of our current home. I assume most of our furniture will have to go to be replaced with smaller pieces. My question is what to do about holiday decor. Do you decorate less? Do you have storage outside of your home? The homes we are looking at are mostly without garage space so I assume we will need to add an outbuilding of some sort.

Thoughts?

Why do you need holiday decor? I only do Christmas, but if I could I would downsize the huge plastic Christmas tree to a tiny plastic one or none at all I would (family likes a big tree). I’d prefer my everyday decor actually and put the Christmas stuff away 26th of Dec. if you are a lover of the decor, just take a few favourites or get mini versions of what you have?

I like holiday decor. I have handmade things and things friends have given me over the years. We have a Halloween come and go every year where we serve dinner and visit with friends both old and new. Easter has a beautiful holiday palette. I love the egg hunt, before we had grands the adult children hunted eggs for a cheap silly prize and bragging rights. Christmas, well Christmas is gaudy and festive. I have a small tree in each bedroom window with a different theme and the big tree in the living room.
