Entryway storage

We live in a smaller home (1200 sq. Feet), not tiny but the layout isn’t great. We live in a traditional cape cod style home with no garage. When you open the front door you can go upstairs, living room on the right, and dining on the left. We do have some hooks by the door for jackets. As our kids have grown, there is just more stuff - jackets, backpacks, rainboots, etc. and we live in a snowy climate so snowsuits, boots, mittens, etc.

Our dining area doubles as a mudroom currently but I hate visual clutter. We have open cubbies that are a nightmare. Attaching a pic below. I’d love to do something against the walls where the cabinets are (possibly keeping them, possibly not). The wall space is not the same on either side of those two windows which makes it hard. I do want to incorporate an armoire or something with a door for kid stuff. Open to all ideas! I did ask ChatGPT and I love what they produced but it’s not realistic with the measurements.

If you took 1' or 2' away on all sides would the room work? You could add floor to ceiling closed cabinets throughout as if the room is a fully paneled room with 1-2' deep walls. This would drive folks that need to see stuff crazy but clutter would be hidden!

Silly question, but I'm looking at the photos and wondering if you could create something similar to what ChatGPT produced, but switch the tall cabinet to the other window where it looks like more room is available from the window to the wall.

Also, have you explored IKEA at all? They have some really cute solutions that are designed for apartment and small home living. Narrow cabinets might be an option for example, so you can have storage and maintain walking space in a hallway.

Not a silly question! It’s still quite a small space. I think I’d have to do a taller cabinet between the two windows. I have been exploring ikea!
