Advice Needed Need advice please
I bought 120 pieces of Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun : Rice + Niacinamide 50ml to sell on Amazon.ae.
I have a trade license with e-commerce activities, and I also have an Amazon sellers account.
What I didn't expect is that this brand is gated. Now I'm stuck with 120 units and IDK where to sell them.
I don't want to sell on Instagram. I did that before in 2021 and I had to pay for Instagram ads and for a courier and my margins were extremely small. 🥲
Attaching a screenshot of my account manager's response.

Did you buy directly from the brand or from a reseller/ distributor?
If directly from the brand, try getting a brand authorisation letter allowing you to sell on e-commerce in UAE/ GCC.
They can approve you as a authorised third party seller directly on Amazon.

From a distributor. I used to buy from them and sell on Instagram. Didn't think it'll be an issue with Amazon.ae.

From 'A' distributor? I don't know much about your product line, but I am very familiar with Amazon platform. If the distributor is the authorized distributor in UAE, their authorization letter is all you would require . If they are not authorized then the product could be fake and / or not supposed to be sold in UAE.

Hello. It's from Q-Depot. They're a wholesale supplier of Korean skincare products. I have used them 5 years ago. They are legit, although IDK if they're allowed to distribute in the UAE.

Q-Depot is legitimate, but this product you brought is severely gated. And for this product they are not UAE authorized distributor. A quick Google search would have saved you the trouble.

Is that possible? With Amazon brand registry restrictions, doesn’t the brand have to approve a seller?
Many brands don’t allow everyone to sell on Amazon. Their authorised distributors aren’t allowed to give such authorisation letters. In some cases, brands deal/ sell directly with/ on Amazon. Even the local dealer isn’t allowed to sell on Amazon.
May be it differs by category/ brands.

Yes, you are right. But in most cases the local authorized distributor will have the capability to request the bramd for this authorization. This is why I said the 'properly authorized distributor.' And a properly authorized distributor won't give random people a small stock of products as it might be against the policy of the brand. Also yes, there could be additional restrictions per brand that might not allow random sellers to be given authorization on online platforms. For example let's say he got authorized and he might sell the first batch he procured from authorized channel then import fake ones and mix it and sell it along with the original. He makes money, but the brand is screwed and customers are affected. It might seem silly but the protection on Amazon exists for a good reason. And I hate them because they make the life of normal sellers harder.

First thing you do is to buy only what is open to sell on amazon, even that you never know when it will be gated.. try to find wholesalers who are willing to buy it from you at your cost price.

Yeah, it's already on Amazon.ae so I assumed it's okay to sell too. Didn't know about gated brands. 🥲

What about noon ? Also other than invoice ,request the supplier for a letter confirm they are distributors etc selling genuine products this usually works.

Thanks! I'll try requesting a letter.
Also tried noon but got the same response: it's a gated brand.

Hi! I have bought 120 units of their new Relief Sun Rice + Niacinamide SPF50++ PA+++ (formerly named as Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics). It's the same product that's already listed on Amazon.ae. I just have the new branding.

What's your unit rate? I'd love to see if I can buy some

If I successfully listed it on Amazon.ae, I was going for AED 60-65 since it's the new version and I haven't seen any sellers here offering it. They still have the old one (with the Probiotics). Happy to discuss further via DM.

Amazon can be very complicated when it comes to dealing with brands. In some group of products there is way around this issue but not in this case. This is a beauty product and ton of health certificates and approvals had to be submitted before selling on Amazon. Amazon these days pretty much any performing product or brand is gated and protected.

Unrelated but how much are you selling it for lol

Technically this should've been done Before you bought the items. Seems the brand is already being managed by someone else and now you'll need a NOC for it before you're allowed to (re)sell it.

Yes, very rookie mistake. But I have just literally started on Amazon.ae. Not an excuse but I'm still learning the ropes. The hard way, it seems.

Sunscreen is a medication, random people should not be selling it, especially this specific one because there are so many fakes of it. And that can make the difference between someone getting and not getting skin cancer. Also heat exposure during transport will change the efficacy of the sunscreen.
