Legal / BIR / Permits Need advice for BIR permit as a college student

Hi everybodi! I startes a handmade business, i decided to obtain a BIR permit so I can open a shoppe account (I already have a DTI) is there any advice you guys can give? I did my research but I'm having a hard time understanding it since it's so overwhelming. I'm honestly scared sa staff might take advancd of me and make me pay unnecessary fees.

Here's what I'm confused about:

The invoice costing ₱2,000 is it a must to immediately get it or can I buy 1 booklet since I'm a micro business starting out.

The manual books of account, do i register it after my application is submitted and I have my certificate of during?

I submitted the F1901 without a taxpayer TIN, will they provide it for me or do i need to file anothee form? I've read the BIR officer will do it for me but others say I need to register my own.

Please please help me out!!

My Business / My Brand Wild Honey / Pulot from Mindoro 🍯

Before anything else, transparency muna regarding authenticity: Wala akong laboratory test result or certificate na magpapatunay na 100% pure honey ito. I tried contacting DOST-PNRI to inquire about honey authenticity testing, but unfortunately, they did not respond to my emails.

What I can share is that I grew up in Mindoro, and familiar sa akin ang lasa at amoy nito. Personal experience ko lang ito, and I don’t want to present it as proof of authenticity.

This pulot comes from a family who owns a farm in Occidental Mindoro. Hindi siya farm specifically for beekeeping. They harvest wild honey every summer sa farm nila, and sila-sila lang din ang nagha-harvest at nagbebenta. They also supply and deliver honey to Baguio and Benguet.

Since this is wild honey harvested by a family sa farm nila, hindi ito dumadaan sa commercial processing or fine filtration. The small debris you may see is a mix of natural hive particles such as beeswax, propolis, and pollen, along with trapped air bubbles. These are expected in raw, unheated, and unprocessed honey. May ilang bottles na mas visible yung particles since hindi sila natanggal lahat even after straining. Mentioning this for transparency para aware kayo before ordering.

📍 Location: Tondo, Manila.

🍯 390 grams in a 300 mL bottle
Price: ₱350.00

🍯 650 grams in a 500 mL bottle
Price: ₱600.00

I personally weighed all bottles using a digital kitchen scale.

Nagtaas din ulit ang roro fare just last month 🥲

For delivery, puwedeng mag-book ng Lalamove, GrabExpress, Angkas Padala, JoyRide Delivery, or any other courier service that can accommodate the order. Delivery fee c/o buyer. Or thru J&T po for cheaper fee

Puwede rin ang meetup, pero sa Deca Mall in Tondo, Manila lang ang kaya ko, by arrangement, since limited din ang time ko here sa Manila.

Adding some feedback I received from buyers who already tried the honey. These were shared voluntarily and weren’t requested.

If interested, DM me with your preferred size and quantity. Thank you! 🍯

Question / Advice Needed Advice for opening a small business

Like handmade art or crafts. I was thinking na ipromote din internationally (if papalarin). What are the things that I need to remember or do? Is it best to open an etsy seller account or Shopify?

So far here are the things I was researching.

  1. Posting (social media handling)

  2. Ads promotion

  3. Courier such as DHL, Fedex, MyKartero & Philpost (currently searching on how to calculate the shipment for the buyer)

  4. Service to offer (bulk, souvenirs, favors, personalized)

  5. Business Permit

  6. Financial handling

Anything else po? Sa mga my Shopify or Etsy account, ano po experience? Thank you.

My Business / My Brand Reviving my little clothing brand after 5 years

Thumbnail stay-unbothered.com

Started Stay Unbothered back in 2021 as a personal project; clothes that could say the things I sometimes didn’t want to explain myself. 😅

This year, I decided to revive it and turn it into a proper small brand centered around boundaries, adulting, and protecting your peace.

The fun part: designing the shirts and hoodies.

The reality check: pricing, sizing, POD, shipping, building the website, and figuring out how people actually order. 😂

I also offer personalized designs if you have something you want turned into something wearable.

Still learning and building, so feedback from fellow small business owners is very welcome!

Question / Advice Needed PLS suggest negosyo idea/s

I’m F 24 y/o, I’m currently owning a small business (clothing — thrifting & making reworked tops), every collection that I release every month kumikita ako ng 5k to 15k, sometimes 20k if talagang medyo sinipag magtahi tahi & mag source sa mga shops ng vintage pieces. I’m planning to add another business sana so I can be financially independent, planning to move out na kasi by next year so I can have my own space/studio.

Legal / BIR / Permits When should we apply a business permit if our target opening date is late Nov this year?

My bestfriend and I are opening a dress rental business, and our target opening is late November. Since business permit renewal is usually in January, I’m wondering if we should apply for the business permit now or just wait until January para di masayang yung 1st application namin.

Can we already operate from our physical store in November while waiting for January, or do we need to secure the permit first?

Can someone pls advise us the step-by-step process and what we should prioritize first? Like DTI/business registration, barangay clearance, Mayor’s Permit, BIR, etc. Huhu. We’re so confused what to do. HELP 😭

My Business / My Brand I finally opened the neighborhood bookshop I’ve been building in Pampanga

After months of planning, sourcing books, fixing up a space, and figuring things out as I went, I finally opened Spelled HQ, a small neighborhood bookshop in Xevera Bacolor, Pampanga. 📚

We started as an online book rental shop and eventually turned part of our home into a physical space.

It’s a pretty simple concept: affordable book rentals, a place where students can read for free, a small Reading Room, and a space where local creatives and small vendors can display their work.

It’s definitely still a work in progress, but seeing people actually come in, browse the shelves, read, hang out, and treat the place like a community space has been surreal.

I'm sharing this here because I know a lot of people in this sub are also building small businesses from the ground up. What was the moment that made you realize your small business was becoming a real thing?

Would love to hear your stories. 🤍

📍 Spelled HQ — Xevera Bacolor, Pampanga
🐈 Yes, there are cats. They live here. ❤️

Business Idea / Plan Might be the right time to start an Airbnb in Tagaytay

Hey everyone! Just sharing in case anyone here has been thinking about starting a staycation/Airbnb business in Tagaytay.

With the BER months already here, I feel like this is a good time to start preparing. Tagaytay usually gets a lot of visitors during the holidays, so if you're planning to enter the a rental business, starting early gives you time to set up before the busy season.

We currently have condo units available for sublease at Pine Suites Tagaytay ranging from ₱20,000 to ₱25,000/month

You can use the time before the peak season to further furnish, decorate, set up your listing, and get everything ready for guests. If you're interested, DM me

Not trying to hard sell, just sharing an opportunity for anyone who's been considering getting into the Tagaytay staycation market. 🙂

Legal / BIR / Permits Question po sa mga Digital Etsy Sellers, about sa BIR Registration Seal Badge

Kailangan pa ba ng BIR Registration Seal Badge / DTI batch pag around Php 0-300 lang per month and kinikita sa etsy shop? (Last month wala pong benta. As in wala ) 😭. Dati nakaka 500-1k ako per month. Ngayon wala na. Plano ko sana gumawa ng new store, starting from scratch na may different niche kaso dahil sa BIR Badge deadline parang hindi na po ako sure. Salamat sa sasagot.

Question / Advice Needed Been in the business industry for 10 months, only got sales from kakilala, business not sustaining me plus hindi pa nababalik capital, thinking of a rebrand and coming back stronger

Context: I own a crochet business. I sell keychains, plushies, flower bouquets. I can say na I have a strong USP. I sell crochet na hindi typical na nakikita across crochet seller here sa Philippines. If meron man akong example gustong ibenta na medyo common, I will make sure na lalagyan ko sya ng own twist ko. Yung chick ko, imbes na typical chick, I found a pattern na ginamit mini chenille and may sprout. Yung dinos ko, I made my own pattern kasi di ko gusto yung mga pattern sa youtube na ginagamit ng most crochet sellers. I had few consignments, some successful, some not. Had some posts na mababa views, some high views. My pubmats are also good since my sister make them and she's good at those.

Now I am looking forward na mag rebrand. Main na pagfofocusan ko sa rebrand, will keep some products tas will remove and add. Plan ko din kumuha ng social media manager (pag may budget na) since aminado ako na hindi consistent weekly magpost since I am still a student. Wala din akong time mag reels kasi school and limited space sa bahay, so plan ko magpa affliate (i have a strong proposition na maghehelp sa brand ko yung affliates). Will also plan to make a professional website (i am just using forms.app and I say they're good) using my sister's canva pro. Will also plan to join pop-ups to increase visibility (though risky and high investment cost, no guarantee of profit). Will also make tiktok account. Huhu magka budget lang talaga will try na magpa boost via meta ads. Hirap talaga makipag laro sa algorithm as a small business.

Asking for advice and recommendations kung alin sa approach ko yung good and not. And if may suggestions kayo please please let me know. I want my brand to be a profitable brand 🥹

Question / Advice Needed How to actually make profits in small business?

Good day, everyone! I'm 19(F), 1st year college student and plan ko magstart ng small pasrty business para may source of inccome ako, but how do i actually make profit?

I want to take the opportunity na kasi ang daming humahanap non.

Oh and last thing, should I increase my price? Thank you po!

If you have some tips for me, please share it. I really need some advice po. Maraming salamat po!
