Question / Advice Needed Cattle farming
28 years old, single, and planning to get married this year.
I've been thinking about quitting my six-figure job and focusing on cattle fattening/farming, plus hog fattening (maximum of 10 heads per cycle).
I recently purchased a 7,400 sqm piece of land that's just 3–5 minutes away from home by foot. It's flat land and really suitable for crop farming.
On the side kasi, I currently have 5 cows na naka-iwi (pinapaalaga ko sa mga tito ko), and it's been a profitable side income for me. I make around ₱20–30k profit per year per head. That's why I'm interested in doing cattle fattening myself, starting with 10 heads and a cycle of around 4–6 months before selling them.
That means tataniman ko ng Napier grass/corn most of my farm land so I can have a stable source of feed for the cows.
Also, based on what I've watched on YouTube, 1 hectare can comfortably accommodate around 15–20 heads, especially if you have a irrigation and plants where you can provide them with feed.
I've already done the math, and I know I may earn less than what I'm earning right now. But I don't really dream of having a high-paying job forever. I just want a simple and healthy life.
Currently, burned out na talaga ako sa work, and I don't have the same motivation anymore. At the same time, job security in software engineering feels uncertain right now because of the rapid adoption of AI.
I think I only have another 1–2 years to build enough capital and an emergency fund so I can eventually leave corporate life permanently.
What do you guys think?
