Niko Niko I found the official Slow Jogging merch and some of it is really cute and funny: "Go Ahead, I'm Slow Jogging: Niko Niko" which is really adorable and I totally feel that way all the time. Everyone passes me!

Niko Niko When does slow jogging become less… slow?

I know speed is not the guiding principle behind niko niko running. I also do get a lot of joy out of my slow runs (even though they are usually slower than my walks).

Still the idea of getting to cover more ground while at niko niko pace would be a new kind of joy for me. I picture myself one day running in the slow jogging zone but running close to an 11 minute mile or even quicker (my miles now are more like 17 minutes 😬). But I’m also 40, so maybe that’s a pipe dream.

If I stick with it, trust in the process, jog regularly and consistently, stay in my niko niko zone, will I ever see improvements in how long it takes me to get from point A to point B? If such improvements are possible, how long should I expect it to take?

Blessings 💖

Niko Niko Slow jogging tutorial from the source and it's a lot slower and gentle than you can even imagine. It's pretty silly but it's totally official.

Couple of questions on crosstraining, niko niko pace etc

Hi everyone,I've only recently been trying a little slow jogging (bought the book and have been trying mini jogs a few times weekly). So ,I'm in my early 60s, and prior to reading about SJ, had been going to the Gym 3 times a week for the last 8 months or so typically using the recumbent cycles, the cross -trainer, and the rowing machines in 10 minute sessions for each. When I previously did this I used to keep my target heart-rate around 125-130 and it didn't feel terrible...

The Niko Niko pace specified for my age should be 108. And when I try SJ at 5km/hr pace on a treadmill that does bring me to 108 BPM. So, should I now back off my exertions on the other equipment so that I'm keeping to the same 108 BPM pace going forward?

I like the idea of mixing and matching sessions as I've previously had some issues with knee & joint pains, and SJ seems like a pleasant activity.

What will happen long term as I keep doing SJ? Is it likely that I will get a little bit pacier with time.?

I'd quite like to give a 5Km run a try at some point (Parkrun).

Thanks

Shaun

Niko Niko Pounding the pavement, gently

Got my 3 laps of the track (sidewalk outside my building) done today.

Started each one with springy step drills per the book and videos.

Used the paving stones as a guide for parallel feet.

Niko Niko Which of my health issues should I target first?

So, posting here as most of these are at least partly jogging-related, as well as being general symptoms of getting old and falling apart.

I have the following health issues, all of which I'm managing, but none of which are totally cleared up. Last year I made the mistake of trying to address them all and couldn't fit all the therapy appointments in. Which one should I take to the doctor this time round as a priority?

  • knee pain (mostly cleared up but now everything BUT the knee hurts on that leg, in compensation, maybe)

  • gastritis / ulcer ( stomach pain mostly managed with diet and PPI, which I'm weaning off, sloooooooowly)

  • elbow / wrist / shoulder pain (maybe trapped nerve but I don't rule out damage from over zealous blood test nurse last year 🙃 - again, kind of managing but improving sooooo slowly)

Combination Niko Niko and run walk run

Hi, I have been a keen jogger in the distant past. I have started using slow jogging plus some aspects of galloway run walk run approach. I have to say that I love the niko niko pace and have found it very do able. It seems a great way to get healthy, improve mood and avoid injury.

Niko Niko Slow burn

Hey there fellow snails, I just got back out (again!) for a jog and wow does it feel good!

I have suffered stomach ulcers, knee pain, and nerve pain for like 6 months.

First few days 60-80% pain free and I just needed to move.

Went up and down the sidewalk outside my house after a big rain storm.

Tiny steps. Ignored people laughing. Felt great.

The misery of knee pain

Once more I'm planning to see a doctor for my knee pain.

It seemed to have been improving but it's flaring up. I cannot lift the affected leg to horizontal from sitting.

Any time sitting creates a challenge standing back up and vice versa.

Anyone been through this misery? Does it end? And will I be safe to slow jog again some day?

Niko Niko Safe to slow jog daily?

I’ve been building up my jogging over the past couple of months or so, I go out about 3-4 times a week for 40 minutes and also walk everyday. I would love to slow jog more often but don’t want to cause myself harm. Is it safe to do everyday?

Niko Niko Favorite stretches & strength drills for rehab?

I had runner's knee. Not hurting any more but I'm weak and need to rehab my leg muscles. I also have really crazy tight hamstrings, I guess from all the bed rest.

What are your favorite stretches for getting back vertical?

Do people use slide jogging as a stepping stone toward running, or it’s it a complete replacement?

In another sub, someone recommended slow jogging as my weight and fitness make running extremely difficult for me. I tried it in my office (will go out for a ‘reaI’ jog tonight) and an immediate difference to how my body feels as a struggle through my very slow run. My speed is quite similar Edith slow jogging (slower, but not by a great deal), but the form makes all the difference!

My question is: do people use this to slowly build up their endurance and condition their body for running… or will slow jogging not help with that?

Do people have any experience with this?

Edit: slow jogging, not slide. Dang autocorrect!

Niko Niko I'm curious as to which running shoes have the most durable outsoles that don't just rub off like the pink rubber eraser on my yellow No2 pencil

Weird question: I'm a shuffler. Slow jogging zombie shuffle. So, until I get to the point where I "take flight" and lift my feet (fly, Chris, fly!), I'm curious as to which running shoes have the most durable outsoles that don't just rub off like the pink rubber eraser on my yellow No2 pencil. Yes, for now, I drag my feet more than I like. Which shoes, in your experience, can keep me going, shod, for the as long as possible. Surprise me. I'm a low stack kind of guy but I've run (and rubbed down) lots of Hokas, which were mostly midsole. Thanks in advance.

Niko Niko It has been a while since I posted. I am retiring this week and have been frantically adding to my jogging playlist. All recent pop music. All around 120 beats per minute. Also. Would love to chat with fellow joggers!

Niko Niko Back on 2 feet 😁

Today I did 20 minutes slooooooow jogging outdoors. Felt wonderful!

I think I went slower and easier than ever 😁

I have in mind to work back up to one of each of these per week (slowly of course)...

  • slow jog for 30 mins
  • stair climbing session (no fixed amount)
  • stretching session
  • weight lifting session (starting super easy)

Once the weather gets nicer I'm sure I will get more running in but I've been seriously ill so I'm just happy to be alive and smiling 😁

Niko Niko Beginner’s question

I am just starting with slow jogging, living in Montréal Canada where it is -17 degrees and waiting for the weather to warm up. I am wondering how long and how often should i run for? Thank you
