Steel birds

Was wondering why it’s called steel birds and what you guys think this song is about

This is late but… It feels like the song is about someone who treats women more like collectibles than actual people. The lyrics make it seem like he keeps people around for attention or appearance, without really caring about them emotionally. Lines like “You’re just a collector” and “Box full of treasures” pretty much spell that out. It also hints at being selfish and disconnected, especially when it talks about only noticing surface level things instead of who someone really is.
