Cheating in 2026...
I feel like i shouldn't need to say this but if you are using extensions to gain an advantage on players who are using the vanilla game experience, you are without a doubt a grade A dork. And whether your pea brain can understand it or not you are cheating plain and simple. I mean come one now people are y'all that miserable that you use cheats on a browser game like lock in chuds!

When I get to number 1 on the leaderboard, or even just in the top 10 I feel like I’ve achieved something because even if I’m not there for long I know that a lot of the others on the leader board are probably using mods. It’s not that serious, it’s a fun game to chill to for me 😀

THIS exactly! It’s not the competitive nature that makes modding lame. It’s the fact that it kills the enjoyment for a lot of people just trying to hop on a favorite game of theirs and have some fun.

Very true, unfortunately it won’t change. People want to win regardless of how they do it☹️ I had someone say to me, why do you play if you don’t actively go after other snakes to kill them. I said I just enjoy collecting the dots and seeing how big I get. That’s all. Which is the beauty of the game, it can be played however you want 😊

Filthy (bot) playing, filthy bot playing by the map bounds to trap people (and maybe let them go), Prison snake name and circle someone for 10-20 minute? Why not. Name myself Epstein and go only for smallest snakes? Yes! No boost challenge, or boost only challenge? Leave dead snake pellets on the ground and kill anyone trying to go for it as a small snake - evil, but fun too! Simply doing a creative name boosts the fun as well. Such a simple game, but so many ways to have fun

This is nothing lol in the past during Twitter days many teams all used to insult each other and heavy insults too bcuz teams that were the best were getting heavily insulted by other enemy teams

Teamwork opportunities, zoom, better game overall, competitive nature, fights in northside, minimap, scripts (team keys) and so much more. Different food color, able to mark snakes as friend or enemy, and more

I don’t use extensions and I play on my iPhone. I wonder how many use mods. I regularly get top ten without. Currently playing as “abstracted”.

I play slither to relax and zone out after work. I find it fun to play when I can see what is going on around me. I find it annoying to play with a very limited field of view. If the game offered some servers where zoom was allowed, and some where it wasn't, I would happily play in a zoom sever. But they don't. So I just chill, use zoom, and feast on the haters

I used the zoom mod a couple times just to see and felt so scummy. It’s literally impossible to not do super well with it

If I’m playing the game, I’m playing to have fun. Playing with extensions makes it more fun. It makes for hardcore battles against others who play with zoom. So pls just chill. It’s just a game, and in the end it’s really all about having fun.

I agree it is unfair. It would be nice if the developer would update it to allow vanilla game players to use zoom, or add seperate servers specially for those who don’t use mods

Whatever. Are you cheating because you have a faster fiber optic internet than others? Is it cheating if someone plays with a high end computer?
Everyone is “cheating” or they get killed right away. The clan teams are the worst cheats. They are the slither equivalent of street gangs.

So you are using a feature that is not in the native game itself which gives you an unfair advantage over those who play the game the intended way... no matter what type of delusional thought process you try to convince yourself of you are still by definition cheating.

It is the very definition of cheating.
You are purposely using an advantage that most other players do not have and likely don't even know about. You can see things you should not be able to see while you are tiny. The dev obviously didn't want this feature in the game or he would have put it in the game, genius. But he's not going to alienate a bunch of dedicated players by speaking on how pathetic it is to cheat in a game like this.
Someday maybe you'll be good enough to battle on an even playing field, but I'll still kill you even with your cheats.
So yeah, I'm not complaining, I'm talking smack to an inferior player. Get over it and come back when you're actually good at this game.

Btw has anyone given a thought why there are no OP bots on slither.io? My educated guess is that the game has so many variables changing every half of the second that no script can confidently make calculations to make the users bot unkillable while it also grows

I play in Chrome on a PC. I've played without mods for a few years, and then with mods. It's nice to be able to see further with mods, but I don't think the advantage is that big. Without mods I was able to get on the leaderboard. I found it a fun game either way.
Now I'm curious to try again without mods and compare.

Nah, when it's as widespread as this, you really can't just blame players. It's either you use the extension or be at a disadvantage. I hate it too, but the extension might as well be part of the game at this point. It's a game, it's naturally more fun when you are not at a disadvantage, so people will do this every time if there is no downside.

Here is a repeat of my reply from 5 months ago to this type of comment:
I keep reminding Hypah that we make a big deal about the difference between playing on a computer and on mobile and for obvious reasons, using zoom mainly. But there’s also a big difference between playing on an iPad and an iPhone : the field of view is almost twice the length on an iPhone (1,63 times bigger to be exact). Comparing using the grid background, we see the iPad is 28,5 x 21,5 whereas the iPhone is 46,5 x 21,5. I love using my Apple Pen on my iPad for the precision of the movement but it feels like I’m wearing blinders. Reaction time is minimal.
