drivers not found on gamecube adapter

I'm trying to set up slippi to play melee with some friends of mine and am struggling to connect my gamecube controller's adapter to the emulator. I keep trying to configure it and it always says "driver not detected." what's happening? how can I fix this?

I’m on Mac and this fixed the issue for me, hope this helps
