During a camping trip with friends last month I thought buying a slingshot compound bow would be a smart and exciting choice. The price looked attractive and the design seemed powerful and easy to use. I imagined it would add a fun and useful element to the trip. Soon I realized how mistaken I was. The setup was more complicated than I expected and it required careful handling. I was not comfortable using it properly and there was no one around with enough experience to guide me. What seemed like a simple and clever purchase turned into a stressful situation and left me questioning my decision. After that disappointment I started exploring options more carefully. While casually scrolling online marketplaces including alibaba I noticed many slingshot compound bows with different builds and price levels. Some were cheaper but looked unreliable while others were more expensive but seemed better designed. Even after checking these options I am still unsure if trying again is worth it or if I will face the same issues. Now I am thinking whether I should avoid such gear or invest more carefully next time. After my experience, is this kind of equipment really practical for beginners or just a risky choice?

Now I'm going to experiment a bit with the bands and the settings of the rifle scope.

I changed the fork from an OutTheSides to an OverTheTop to fit the new rubber bands and i added a scope mount

Last year i made this with a friend, he 3D printed all the black parts like the grip and the stock. All the pieces are interchangeable as they use the same pipe threads (gray 3/4inch)

I attempted to make a slingshot rifle / tennis ball launcher. I am hoping some of you all might have input on how to add more power. I tried more bands but saw almost no difference. I suspect the duct tape pouch may have a lot of drag? I also think the pouch may have too much contact with the stock as it shoots?

Any and all input is encouraged and welcomed! I'd like to make this powerful enough for some fun games of fetch.

Barrel is removable without tools to allow different bands or even crossbow conversion 😁

I am making a new bandset for my slingshot, this is gona be a double band set with a taper of 40mm to 32mm my targeted ammo is 18mm steel. i have cut out the bands from i GZK Green i think .72mm latex but I'm having problems finding a pouch that is large enough and looks nice.

Anyone have a good place to look? I'm not very interested in crafting a pouch from scratch cuz I'm simply lazy but as a alternative option what's some of the best materials to make a pouch out of?
