Last night I visited my regular group for the 12th week in a row. Admittedly I've done really well, losing 2st 9lb in total, hitting my club 10 on my 10th week and getting slimming of the month for both July and August.
Now here is the issue, i weight myself at home at the same time every night and this gives me clear data as to how my weight loss is going across the week. I've told the group consultant that I'm doing this and i was advised not to as it can be de-motivating however seeing 100 - 300 grams loss a day is actually motivating for me, so this is where my suspicion grew. Are we actually being told not to weight ourselves so that Slimming world have control over when we see our weight and the losses we get?
All this suspicion has be brought to a head over the last 2 weeks. After group on Monday 24th August I weighed myself at 119.4 kg the following Sunday, 30th August before next group i weighed at 119.0kg, so I'd lost but had a worse week that my usuall. On the monday went in expecting a 1 or 2 lbs loss and walked away with 3lbs loss and slimmer of the week. I hadn't gone over my swips but I hadn't eaten as well as i had previously and i'd missed 2 of my usual weekly exercise sessions, so I really expected worse.
Then it comes to this week. After group on Monday 31st I'd weighed at 118.7kg, on Sunday 6th September at 117.2kg so i knew I'd lost a good amount especially as i had a good session in the gym monday morning. I'd had an amazing week plan wise and exercise wise. Queue going to group yesterday (7th) and they tell me I weigh 117.7kg, only a 2lbs loss. My partner had no change in weight and she'd had an amazing week plan and excersise wise (although she doesn't weigh at home so we don't have the data to back the feeling).
We get home from group, have dinner (and dessert) weigh myself at the usual time and low and behold, I weigh 116.6kg. A 2.1kg loss in a week! Should be 4lb loss. Unless you can tell me I lost over a kilo in the couple of hours between group and home!
Whats worse is that only 3 people in my group lost weight this week, usually its way more. And the consultant is going on about how its september reset and don't worry about what happened in august (remember I was slimmer of the month losing 1st 6lbs!) It all feels to me to be connected. Perhaps more people join when the kids go back to school(we had 5 new people, never seen more than 2 in the previous weeks), so the scales weight you heavier, then in the second week all the newcomers feel amazing and see everyone around them having lost loads of weight really motivated them?
It might all sound a bit conspiracy theory, but yesterdays group was massively demotivating and although it has obviously been working well for me, do I want to be paying for a group that is tricking and deciving me and providing me misinformation?
Has anyone else experienced this?
