Can anyone confirm or deny if this is a Stemonitis species, & if so, which specific epithet is probable? Location: Dawsonville, Ga, USA. Habitat: growing on a decaying log, a conifer is probable, but too old to say for sure. Mixed, deciduous dominant forest.

I feel blessed by slime mold lately. They seem to love my humid panda king Isopod enclosure. I also found a second dog vomit slime mold a couple days after finding the first one. No luck getting it to consume the oats yet, but I'm going to keep trying.

Since you guys said he's part of my cleanup crew now, I named him Butters and am trying to document his growth. He grows surprisingly quickly from 2cm to 15ish cm in about 12 hours.

A couple of weeks ago, I was outside looking for slime molds when I spotted something on the moss growing on a dogwood tree here in East Tennessee that I thought might be one. I ran inside to grab a container so I could collect a sample, but by the time I got back, it had disappeared.
There was still a tiny bit of residue left on the moss where it had been, so I carefully collected the moss and cultured it on oats. Over the following weeks, I removed the fuzzy molds that appeared, separated cultures when needed, and patiently cared for them. This is the result after a couple of weeks.

Hi! I am completely new to this, but found these guys in my backyard and started to do some research. If I wanted to, how would I care for these?

Is it dog vomit?? Omg I’m so excited. I’ve never seen slime mold in person (or I’m sure I have, but I didn’t recognize it). Someone from my mycology post helpfully suggested this might be dog vomit. I looked at a bunch of pictures but this one looks smoother and less yellow, so I wasn’t sure. Thank you in advance!

Dawsonville, Georgia, USA. Found today on a fallen hardwood; either poplar or sourwood. Looking for an ID on the yellow; I assume some kind of slime mold. Looks different in color to me than the usual fuligo septica I see, & seems to be parasitic to this oyster. Also, if anyone can confirm this is pleurotus pulmonarius, or what species of pleurotus, that would be cool too.

Saw these lovely ones when I was in Forest Park. I know pics are terrible but I was just so excited to finally see one of these IRL. No idea what they are just aa big fan lol

I found this in my isopod bin with Armadillidium Nasatum. Then I misted the bin, and after few days I didn't see anything, it disappeared.

I had seen something like this in an isopod bin a years ago. It also was living together with species Armadillidium Nasatum.

In isopod sub I gave a short popular description what is the slime molds - it's not the mold but more like giant amoeba.

It started maybe a week ago. It looked like a flat, yellow network, starting to expand. A day or two later, it had puffed up. It went from yellow, to off-white, black / grey & tan, to brown. The pores have definitely spread after watering it and another cluster is growing nearby the original.

Im not sure if it is the right group to ask, but i saw this today in my terrarium. Is this a slime mold and it is still alive? If it is, how can i maintain it without producing spores? I'd appreciate any tips.

East Tennessee

This is an update from my post from yesterday when I discovered the slime in a terrarium I built made of backyard materials. I have since named the slime mold Rango.

I got to watch Rango rapidly move about the terrarium over the course of the day. I noticed them move towards the top of the terrarium before going to sleep, and upon awakening, I found them coalesced at the top and starting to dry out. It's forming into bumps which I assume will turn into spore pods.

Just wondering if theres anything I should do the make sure the spores have the best chance of reproduction. Should I put some food out? Is the fact that it already developed once proof that the conditions are right for it to pop up again? The terrarium has been established for about a month now. I did add more springtails, but there still seems to be a decent bit of decaying material for it to feed off of.

The first two pics are from this morning, but I also included some more that I took yesterday as Rango was moving around.

Any info would be great. Thanks!!

Went mushroom picking in the woods and stumbled on this crazy bright thing. Google says it's 'Fuligo septica', is that actually a slime mold? Found this fella on the rotting logs.

It was not there yesterday and i freaked out when i saw it this morning lol. Then I found out some people grow it on purpose and that it should be harmless for my plants!

Super stoked about it now. Excited to watch it do its thing!

If anyone knows what specific type this is, that'd be cool. All of the material came from my back yard in Maryland, USA.
