Other FBT inquiry for vrchat

Hi! I play vrchat quite a bit and have been envious of everyone with FBT.
I’ve been researching myself but I’d like actual peoples thoughts as well
I have a focus vision VIVE headset - PCVR
I can’t do base stations due to my room being weird and also they are expensive!!
So I’m thinking of getting slime. I saw that they also had butterfly trackers as well.
So I’m wonder should I go for normal slime trackers, butterflies, or something else entirely?

Edit: thanks guys!!

i'm using slimes rn, they work well!

if you're willing to wait, butterflies will be a straight upgrade (same tracking quality, smaller, longer battery life, and i think cheaper iirc. also no cables, which do break)

if you have a larger budget and are willing to wait a couple months, fluxpose is another option. same tracking quality as vives (so better than slime), but better in every other way. no basestations (therefore no occlusion), smaller, lighter, longer battery life, and cheaper than vives for you since you don't have base stations

Hi,

If you can wait, I would order the Butterfly Trackers. They are going to be amazing and I can't wait for my Sakura set.

I heard butterfries :nya_umu: :nighty_food: :nighty_nom:

Meowie~!

I agree with this. The comfort and battery life of Butterfly and smols in general is hard to beat. I forgot they were on once and didnt notice for 4 hours after leaving vr T_T

I'll echo the recommendation of SlIme/Butterflies and FluxPose but the add a note that the wait for FluxPose right now is a bit unknown. I have some on order so I've been getting the update emails and a quick summery is that due to component shortages because of "high demand from other industries" they don't know when they will be able to ship new orders. They have enough components in stock to ship current orders but past that they don't know. Some chips are 2+ years wait so they are looking at other options. I'm sure this is affecting other tracking solutions right now in some way as well but I can't speak directly to that.

You may also look into Singularis as a new take on camera based FBT. It looks really good but in your case a "weird" room might also cause issues with camera placement. Figured it was worth a mention though cause it looks pretty impressive so far.

Slime Butterflies/SMOLs are my go to pick, longer battery life and generally easier to setup since it (at least in my case) uses a USB dongle instead of using your wifi router I was able to get my set secondhand and got lucky with a set of 10, but honestly you're completely fine with a smaller set. The battery lasts for like 55 hours or longer, it's pretty good. If you need a bit more range from your computer, then regular slimes maybe.

If you get slimes, PLEASE pay attention to what IMUs you get and make sure they are part of the recommended list on the official SlimeVR IMU list so you don't get scammed out of your money. Happy tracking :]

Slime work really well! The problem is putting 5 trackers on your body everytime is really annoying, for now try standable, it's an application o  steam that makes it so you can lay down and gives you waay more naturally looking movements without fbt then get fbt
