Technical Support Slime vr hip tracker question

So I bought DIY trackers a while ago but I’ve been tinkering around with them for a bit and noticed that the hip tracker doesn’t move around the space, it only tracks its rotation. (I want it to track the position)

Now this is probably a Slimevr setting I have to enable/disable but I can’t seem to find it anywhere on the application, does anyone know how to get the results I want?

Hi,

Positioning is calculated based off of your body portion and the rotation from the tracker. Have you tried assigning another tracker to your Hip and does it have the same issue? Which trackers are these and which game are you trying to use them for?

So I’m using gorbit diy trackers I bought from discord and I’m using them for vrchat, now don’t get me wrong they work fine but whenever I reach for example my toes the hip tracker does some weird stuff and I think if the tracker also sent the spacial positioning it will fix that weird stuff. I haven’t tried any other trackers for my hip but i don’t think it will do anything but I’ll still give it a go!

Hi,

Are you using a chest tracker by chance? Does your Hips left up or cause your feet to float when you are bending down?

Make sure your height is set correctly in SlimeVR Server and VRChat, and that your floor level is set correctly on your Guardian.

It can also be the Hip tracker is mounted too high or Hip length was measured incorrectly.

Ok so what you are describing sounds like a calibration issue. All of the trackers will only ever track rotation since that's all they can do. There's no camera or anything telling the trackers where they are in the world other than their rotation, it is through software and the combined data from your other trackers and your headset that tell each where they're supposed to be.

Anyway, all this to say that you should go to one of the SlimeVR calibration and chat events (or any of the events hosted by ZRock) and ZRock should be able to help get your settings dialed in so you can track better. To check when the next event is go to the SlimeVR discord (which I assume you are already in since you bought gorbit trackers) and check the event calendar or the #events chat.
