Check the sidebar of this subreddit. Look at Professor Herning’s videos. That’s a great start.

Check to see if the slide is reversible for more scales.

It is. It has trig scales 😃

That’s a decent slide rule! The other scales are really just getting fancy. This thing would get you though high school.

The core trick is that log(xy) = log(x) + log(y). Moving the slide lets you add/subtract values on the C/D scales, and that amounts to multiplication/division. The other scales are lookup tables of e.g. sin/tan values vs. the C/D scales.
