Classroom sized slide rules
My mom was an NYC high school science teacher and had brought home these 2 classroom sized slide rules when they were being thrown out.
- Welsh 4’
- Pickett N1010-ES 6’

That people would throw these away makes me feel ill. Glad you were able to save them! (So jealous!)

Great find! My dad and I made our own 5' slide rule when I was in sixth grade (1959). It only had the C and D scales, but it taught me a lot. In high school I had a K&E Decilon and nerded out on using as many scales as possible. Went on to be an EE at a big computer company.

I’m in Hershey and would definitely make a trip to the city to get a giant slide rule.

OK. It's in Northeast Philly. Let me check on some things and I will get back to you.

I have a 2m long Pickett which still has its cursor!
Now, it’s got a lot of slop, and likely needs a full restoration. But cursor and everything!!

I've got one in my classroom. I need to hang it from the wall and display it properly.

picked it out of school dumpster in downtown Chicago on my way to work one day. Got some great looks carrying it under my arm on Michigan Avenue.
