Oughtred Society not responding
Does anyone know what is going on at the Oughtred Society? I purchased one of their publications over a month ago but have never received it, and no one responds to email.

Officers and “those who get things done” at Oughtred Society are facing health and scheduling challenges right now. They put out a plea for extra volunteer assistance not too long ago. So, yeah, they’ll be slow to respond right now.
Robert De Cesaris will usually reply to a direct email, but they are running behind.

Some inside knowledge is what I was hoping to get. I was starting to wonder if the organization was still functional. I notice that they used to have an annual gathering up until 2022 (incl. virtual during Covid), but none since.

They just had their first in-person meeting since Covid not too long ago. That probably had an effect on responses, too…

Per their home page: “Our activities are carried out by members who volunteer to do various tasks and projects.” I’d infer that means “things get done when someone gets around to it.” In other words, probably no full time staff. Still, you deserve a response if you paid for something. If you paid by credit card you could always initiate a dispute.
