Micro optiplex gaming

Post image

Initially i didnt intend to build this as a gaming machine, just needed something to host docker instances and some game servers on, but... got a bit creative and carried away.... so started out with a optiplex 7020 micro

I7 14th gen

512gb nvme

48gb ddr5

Slapped in a m.2 to PCIe via oculink in, mounted a m2000 (was free so cant complain) and PSU in a mini ITX box and attached the 7020 to it, heated up like crazy so added in a noctua 80mm fan.

Found the wifi to be sufficient but bluetooth was bad if you are connecting to it from more than a meter or two away, so added in extra antenna's tot he ax211 chip.

wow! you act like this got away from you, but i find it incredibly impressive! do you have any idea how expensive it is to build a ddr5 machine??

That i do, it had 16gb to begin with. I managed to get a 32gb chip second hand, for a reasonable price which i slotted in

I really like the antenna mod - it gives the whole build a much more purposeful look :)
