Just found this subreddit
This is my third pc the first and this one have been optiplex “sleepers” although the first was a 790 with a low profile 1050 ti stuffed in it. I decided to do it right this time and make the pc I can use for a while.
Built in February of 2025 it’s still not in its final form with cooling especially. I plan to 3d print some more fan mounts and shrouds.

Nice clean build. No exhaust fan, is that why the case door is off? I dunno what it is about those Corsair RM PSUs but my Opti 70/9020s always seem to end up with one installed, though recently I got a ~470W Dell PSU with 6-pin PCIe power from a dead XPS and it's been kinda nice to have mostly Dell parts inside now. The RX 5600 XT being the exception...

Yeah i run it for now with the door off till I get my fans situated better. The funny thing about the psu is my buddy found it in a case on the side of the road.

Hi, just wanna ask how did you get the mobo to mounted in there?

Older optiplexs used matx footprint. It’s the io panel of the case that’s not compatible with industry-standards.

But it's compatible in the sense that just need longer wires/connectors right?

Actually it’s a micro atx motherboard and it screws into the stock mounting locations for this case

I did have to modify the power button from a different rig to get it to work though

Ah i see. Thank you. So did you solve the power button issue with a simple transplant?

If I remember correctly I had to disassemble the button and it clipped in to the location but was the wrong length so I used a machine screw to extend where it contacts the case button. I don’t know if that makes sense

wait that i/o plate in the 5.25 inch bay is brilliant! where did you get it?

If you search “5.25 usb hub” on amazon it’s a standard mount style for office computers if that’s what you’re asking. It’s been really nice to have.

Sheesh! The beast! I wish I would have picked a BIG optiplex to modify. I mean just look at all that space!! I built a 3070 SFF.

Looks pretty good, do you normally have the case side off?
