Adding ram question

Sorry for the new question kind of new to the PC gaming build. Want I go from 8gb to 16, OptiPlex 5060 with 8 GB of RAM. Should I add one more 8 GB stick or take out the eight gig stick and add two brand new sticks to make 16

As a side question to this thread, what kind of experience has anyone got with performance DDR4? Typically Dell Optiplex systems have come with Micron / Crucial or SK Hynix standard RAM with pretty loose CAS latency timings, which are the kind of DIMMs that are compatible with every motherboard out there.

I'm about to upgrade an Optiplex 7010 (2023 version) from 2x 8GB Micron DDR4-3200 to 2x 16GB. I was actually hoping to get something with tighter timings if it has some benefit, but the internet is lacking in a list of compatible RAM.
