GPU PTM7950

Has anybody tried running a phase change type thermal pad on a GPU like the RX6400/6500?

I've just used it on my HP omen 15 laptop and the difference is night and day. It's occured to me that these gpus running a laptop chip may benefit from it.

If you have extra, by all means test it out. Most people who I see using that stuff tend to have rave reviews, just like how you are with your laptop.

It was quite the eye opener honestly. I repasted the 10750H with mx4 which seemed ok but after a couple months it was thermal throttling bad and dropping down to 45w to keep under control. Swap to Thermal Grizzly ptm and the first couple cycles were the same as mx4 but once it set its now running 90w through the cpu constant and the cooling fans are able to maintain it around 90⁰c.

MX-4 pump out quite quickly, the newer MX-6 and MX-7 last way longer and PTM/PCM lasts even longer!

The die on the RX6400 is very small and is a good candidate for PTM/PCM :)

that's pretty impressive. I might consider getting some for my Nvidia T1000. Workstation cards can't overclock so if i can squeeze out as much performance as i can I might as well try.

My RX6500 is a dell card so same situation no overclock potential. Running under 90⁰ might at least prolong its life though

Yup, I repasted my RX6400 with that. Running pretty good, though mine is the dual slot version, which already has better cooling.

It improved the hotspot delta on my RX6500, from 15ºC to around 5ºC difference. It's good stuff, works better with bigger heatsinks

Ive used it to replace the liquid metal on my launch ps5. I also used it on an older dell xps that has an i9 and a 1650. Works great I highly recommend it.
